There are 300+ roles available for aspiring Marines, roles the Marine Corps refers to as Military Occupation Specialties (MOSs). These MOSs are categorized into Military Occupational Fields (OccFlds), which this week MOS Monday will be featuring…

01XX Administration & Personnel

Marines will participate in routine personnel and administrative functions while training for a designated MOS within the OccFld.

The duties involve administrative, managerial, and technical skills. Personnel, administration and retention marines are required to learn clerical and administrative procedures, office management, personal computer skills, (personnel and pay database, retrieval and word processing), preparation and use of military publications and correspondence, preparation of orders and directives, and the use of filing systems and record-keeping.

Private First Class Leila Egleston from RSS Mansfield. The rank of Private First Class was introduced by the Marine Corps following service in WWI in 1917. A PFC of Marines is expected to serve as a model for newly-enlisted Marines and carry out the orders of their superior officers to the best of their abilities.

The NROTC Scholarship Program awards scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process, in where the recipient will receive full tuition, books stipend, educational fees and other financial benefits at many of the country's leading colleges and universities. Upon graduation, recipients will commission as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Toys for Tots Campaign Kick-off!

The Marines of RSS Mansfield had the great opportunity to meet with the Mayor of and the Superintendent of to kick off the 2023 Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign.

Toys for Tots is the largest Department of Defense outreach program and serves as an avenue for the Marine Corps’ charity organizations and the local community to provide toys for underprivileged children.

The 1st Marine Aircraft Wing was activated at Quantico, Virginia. Within a year of activation, the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing would participate in the Marine Corps offensive at Guadalcanal. That gruesome campaign would be the first in a series of legendary battles in which the Wing would add value to its reputation. The 1stMAW would earn five Presidential Unit Citations for gallantry in campaigns spanning World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

Join us for this year's Independence Day celebration along the banks of the Trinity River at Panther Island Pavilion and enjoy an evening of festival food, cold drinks, kids’ activities, live music, and an amazing fireworks show.
