Pantego Fire Department
—-Expired and Unused Medications—-
The Pantego Fire Department is working in conjunction with University of Houston and Sharps Compliance to help keep expired and unused medications from polluting our drinking water. There is an envelope box on the front of the fire station where you can pick up a Takeaway Medication envelope. Take the envelope home, put your medications in the self- addressed envelope, and drop it off at the Post Office or put out for the postal carrier to pick up. There is no charge for the shipping and directions are in the envelope. The envelope is never opened, so your information is safe, it is put directly into an incinerator.
Do not put needles, syringes, lancets, injection pens, or chemotherapy waste on the envelope. Liquids must be placed in a sealed plastic bag before going into the envelope and no more than 4 ounces in each mailing envelope. If you have questions about the process, please call Sharps Compliance at 1-800-772-5657. Thank you for doing your part.
