Department Information:

The Paola Police Department consists of 17 sworn officers, and 3 civilian employees. The Paola Police Department's structure has multiple divisions including Patrol, Investigations, and Municipal Court. The Patrol Division is responsible for emergency response, traffic enforcement, and handling of initial criminal complaints. The Patrol Division also has an assigned school

resource officer dedicated to the Paola schools. The Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of felonious and misdemeanor crimes of a serious nature. Investigators are also responsible for evidence collection and storage. The Paola Municipal Court is part of the judicial branch of the Paola City Government. Traffic, misdemeanor, and city ordinance violations are heard in this Court. Schultz presides over all court proceedings. City Prosecutor Lee Tetwiler represents the City and is charged with presenting the City's case against the defendant. Dispatch non-emergency #: (913) 294-3232

Police Commendation Award: Officer Morgan Edens

While on patrol at 2 AM in January, Officer Edens observed a 4 year old girl wandering in the snow. The temperature was 26 degrees and the child was dressed in pajamas and a blanket. Officer Edens successfully reunited the child with her family who was unaware she had exited the residence during the night. The efforts Officer Edens most likely prevented a tragic outcome.

Life Saving Awards: Lt. Nicholas Gazzano, Sgt. Oathout

Lt. Gazzano was recognized for his application of CPR, which combined with the efforts of EMS lead to a successful save.

Our medication drop off box, located in the department lobby will be open during the DEA Takeback event tomorrow from 10-2pm. This drop off box is also accessible daily during normal hours of operation as well.
