SCICR’S vision is as a leader in community safety where we are advocates for change in both individual lives and organizational systems. A state-recognized pioneer in community-based justice, SCICR, previously known as PACT, was established over 40 years ago to provide support and programing to those being released from Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, IN. Today, SCICR offers a comprehensive

array of innovative, cost-effective, best practice services for prevention, correction, and healing. Our programs are diverse and dependent on local needs.

SCICR is incredibly grateful for the grant funding that helped make our summer program possible. This support allows us to provide meaningful opportunities, enriching experiences, and valuable resources for the youth and families we serve. We sincerely appreciate this investment in our community and the positive impact it will have throughout the summer and beyond. Thank you for helping us make a difference! ☀️💙

Congratulations to all of the organizations, schools, community groups, and volunteers who were selected to receive funding through the Orange County Community Foundation's 2026 Unrestricted Grant Cycle!

This year, $121,778.42 was awarded to support projects that strengthen Orange County through education, food security, youth programs, public safety, community development, mental health services, and more. These grants are helping turn great ideas into meaningful impact across our communities.

We are grateful to the donors and endowment funds that make these investments possible and proud of the organizations working every day to make Orange County a better place to live, work, and grow.

What is the Cognitive Triangle?

The cognitive triangle, also known as the CBT triangle, is a visual representation of how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. It is a key component of cognitive behavioral therapy, which aims to help individuals understand and change their thought patterns to improve emotional well-being and behavior.

Components of the Cognitive Triangle
1 - Thoughts — This is the top point of the triangle and represents our beliefs, interpretations, and perceptions about situations. Negative or distorted thoughts can lead to negative emotions and maladaptive behaviors.

2 - Emotions — Located at one of the bottom points, emotions are the feelings that arise from our thoughts. They can be positive (like joy) or negative (like anxiety or sadness), and they significantly influence how we react to situations.

3 - Behaviors — The final point of the triangle represents our actions or reactions based on our thoughts and emotions. Behaviors can reinforce negative thought patterns or help break the cycle by promoting healthier responses .

How the Cognitive Triangle Works
The cognitive triangle operates on the principle that changing one element can affect the others. For example, by challenging and changing negative thoughts, individuals can alter their emotional responses and behaviors. This process is central to CBT, where therapists work with clients to identify and modify unhelpful thoughts, leading to improved emotional and behavioral outcomes

Stress is something we all experience, but carrying it alone can feel overwhelming. 💚

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder to slow down, check in with yourself, and make your well-being a priority. Taking breaks, getting enough rest, talking to someone you trust, moving your body, or simply giving yourself a moment to breathe can make a difference.

You don’t have to have everything figured out all the time. Small steps toward caring for your mental health still matter.

Be kind to yourself this week, and every week.
