Residential Structure Fire — Unionville Road

At approximately 3:40 a.m., Medic 502, Paoli Fire, and Southeast Fire were dispatched to the 1000 block of Unionville Road for a reported house fire.

Engine 142 responded with four firefighters. While approaching the area, crews could see the glow from the fire from the town limits. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story residence with flames showing from the front of the home.

Crews deployed a hose line and entered the residence to begin an interior attack. Firefighters encountered intense heat and heavy smoke. When the floor began giving way into the basement, crews withdrew from the structure and transitioned to an exterior attack.

Due to the rural location, Orange County Rural District 1 and Livonia Fire were requested to provide tanker support. Springs Valley Fire was placed on standby to provide coverage for the Town of Paoli.

The fire remains under investigation.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Paoli Fire, Southeast Fire, and EMS were dispatched to a reported house fire just south of Andis Logging.

While Engine 142 was responding, crews were advised that the structure was fully engulfed, with fire coming through the roof. Upon arrival, Engine 142’s crew deployed two handlines to extinguish the fire. English Fire and Orange County Rural District 1 were requested to provide tankers and additional personnel.

Engine 142 operated on scene for approximately two and a half hours before returning to service.

BFO has awarded $123,420 to 11 local organizations advancing health and wellness across Southern Indiana through projects focused on program growth and sustainability, youth mental health support, physical health opportunities, and housing programs.

The variety of projects submitted continues to show just how many organizations are bringing their own expertise, resources, and approaches to addressing local health and wellness needs. We are grateful for the many organizations doing meaningful work across our region and for the opportunity to learn more about the needs they are working to address. 💛

Looking ahead, BFO's 2026 Project Grant Cycle 3 is still open for a limited time! Applications are due October 9, 2026.

A grant from the Being for Others Health & Wellness Foundation has been awarded to the Paoli First Responders in the amount of $7,500 for our EMR/EMT Initiative.

The goal of this project is to strengthen first-response medical care through EMR and EMT training, certification, continuing education, and lifesaving equipment for local police officers and firefighters.

With this funding, we plan to train police and firefighters alike in Emergency medical response so that when our community needs us we can provide much needed life saving measures beyond that of a typical first responder. In many cases, EMS can be busy with other priority calls or responding from other Counties and our team will be trained to respond, assess the scene, and provide care until an ambulance is available and arrives at the scene.

This training is crucial for those precious minutes that can make a difference in our rural communities. Thank you for your support to our agencies and our community!

Paoli Municipal Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Truck Fire

The Paoli Municipal Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Poe Street following a report of a fully engulfed truck fire.

Engine 141 arrived within five minutes of dispatch. Firefighters deployed one hose line to extinguish the blaze, bringing the fire under control within eight minutes of the initial dispatch.

The department thanks the Paoli Police Department and Orange County Dispatch for their assistance and coordination during the response.
