Send a Cow might just be the most effective little charity you've never heard of! We work primarily with small-holder farmers in seven countries across in sub-Saharan Africa. While we began in the UK nearly thirty years ago, we have recently registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the US. Historically, our programs have focused on livelihoods and economic self-sufficiency in order to s
upport healthy, sustainable change for families and communities. Our overall goal is to offer rural Africans the hope, help and tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Our programs address issues surrounding dependency, food security, gender inequality, household income, sustainable organic farming and resilience. We are currently growing and evolving our work in order to offer expanded enterprise solutions, provide savings and credit training, encourage families to diversify income streams and build foster local entrepreneurship. Our programs currently reach over 300,000 individuals each year, however we aspire to increase that to 1 million by 2020. This ambitious goal has inspired us to expand into the US, in order to increase awareness of our work and encourage support for our work.
