VEHICLE PURSUIT

At around 2:12 p.m., the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible intoxicated woman at the New Blaine Dollar General in eastern Logan County. The woman then left the store in a white Nissan SUV with an Oklahoma license plate and headed west on East State Highway 22. Deputy David Goff got behind the Nissan in New Blaine and activated his vehicle’s emergency lights and siren and the driver drove her vehicle through a yard and back on to East State Highway 22 and continued west. The driver refused to stop. They continued to head west on East State Highway 22 and more of us joined the pursuit. The driver almost hit one of our patrol vehicles.

When the pursuit neared Paris, the Paris Police Department did an excellent job in blocking intersections and having a police vehicle get ahead of the pursuit to get vehicles out of the highway. An Arkansas State Police trooper joined the pursuit in Paris and when we reached an area on the west side of Paris that was open, the state trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention forcing the Nissan into the ditch on the southside of the highway. The vehicle overturned. The driver, Angela Sharp, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, appeared intoxicated and was taken to the hospital by Logan County E.M.S. for evaluation. A deputy escorted the ambulance to the hospital. Once released, the driver will be arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center and booked in on the anticipated charges of felony fleeing, aggravated assault, and several traffic offenses. The Nissan was towed by a towing company. We appreciate the Paris Police and Fire Departments and the Arkansas State Police for their assistance.

As temperatures continue to climb this summer, staying hydrated is one of the most important ways our officers can remain healthy, alert, and ready to serve our community. Thanks to Pepsi's generosity, our officers will have plenty of water and sports drinks available while working long shifts, responding to calls, directing traffic, and serving at community events in the Arkansas heat.

Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors. Remember to:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
☀️ Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning when possible.
🧢 Wear light, breathable clothing.
⚠️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating, and confusion.

We encourage everyone to take the heat seriously and look out for family, friends, neighbors, pets, and those who may be more vulnerable during extreme temperatures.

Thank you again to Pepsi for supporting our officers and helping us stay cool, hydrated, and ready to serve. Community partnerships like this make a real difference, and we truly appreciate your generosity!

Welcome to the New Official page of the Paris Police Department

We would like to take a moment to explain the creation of this new page.

Our previous page was originally created during the tenure of former Chief Ellington. Unfortunately, over time, administrative access to that page was lost. We made multiple efforts to resolve the issue, including reaching out to Facebook in an attempt to regain access or establish a workable solution. Despite those efforts, we were ultimately unable to recover administrative control of the page.

As a result, the creation of a new page became our only viable option.

This new page has been established in a manner that will allow administrative control to be properly managed and transitioned in the future without interruption, ensuring continued access and communication for the department and the community we serve.

Moving forward, this page will serve as the official platform for the Paris Police Department to share important information with our citizens, including public safety updates, department news, community events, announcements, and other relevant information.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition and encourage everyone to follow, share, and stay connected with us here.

Thank you for your continued support of the Paris Police Department and the officers dedicated to serving our community.
