Rollover Crash Results in Injuries and Ejection; Sheriff’s Office Reminds Public About Child Restraint Safety
On 05-14-2026 at approximately 03:58 pm, Deputies with the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency medical personnel and fire responders, responded to a reported single-vehicle rollover crash on North Beach Rd. near the fish ladder.
Initial investigation indicates the vehicle left the roadway and rolled one times before coming to rest. Both occupants sustained injuries in the crash. One occupant was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. Both occupants were evaluated by the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service on scene. The extent of injuries is currently unknown.
The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that proper seat belt use and child restraint systems save lives. Idaho law requires children to be properly secured in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat based on their age and size. During rollover crashes, properly restrained occupants are significantly less likely to suffer serious injury or be ejected from a vehicle.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to:
Ensure child safety seats are properly installed
Use age- and size-appropriate restraints
Make sure every occupant is buckled before traveling
Regularly inspect car seats for proper fit and expiration dates
Even short trips close to home can become life-threatening in a matter of seconds. Taking the time to properly secure every passenger can prevent tragic outcomes.
The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office provides help with child passenger safety education and inspection. Please come into the Sheriff’s Office to meet with our trained staff in the front office to answer any of your questions on child safety restraints.
Thanks to the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service and the Bear Lake County Fire Department for there help with their response to the crash.
