Good Day,

We wish to clarify a situation that was posted to the Park Falls page over the weekend. See attached photo. To begin with, our squad cars require warranty-related service repairs and have recalls that have to be addressed. There was a trusted individual from the community that works at the automotive service location in Minocqua that would kindly pick up whatever squad car required service in the morning and bring it to the location for service. Sometimes, we would have our squad car back in a few days, sometimes longer due to the availability of parts. All weapons and sensitive computer equipment was removed from the squad car before being sent for repairs.

Unfortunately, upon bringing our squad car back to Park Falls on this most recent occasion, that trusted individual allowed the adult female in the attached photo to sit in the driver’s seat of our squad car and have her picture taken. We did not and do not condone this activity. Instead of contacting us immediately to make us aware of what happened so we could investigate, another individual created the attached post to the Park Falls group page. Upon learning about this situation, we immediately began investigating how this happened and learned the truth. We do not know how the person who created the original Facebook post received the photos. Chief Nevelier fielded many calls and messages over the weekend regarding this matter. The department Sergeants also received calls and messages from concerned community members.

This incident was addressed with the trusted individual mentioned above and we are confident this will not happen again. We learned said trusted individual and the female subject in the photo commonly carpool together to Minocqua, which we have been assured will no longer happen when a Park Falls Police Department squad car is involved. The female subject in the photo did not drive the squad car.

The City of Park Falls plow trucks will be out this morning at 7:00 am to begin cleaning up from today’s snow storm. Our goal, during the day, will be to keep the streets open and passable . The crew will be in at 2 am Monday morning to continue with the cleanup, including the downtown area. We should be picking up in the downtown area at approximately 5:00 am.

Please be advised that The City ask residents to please remove garbage cans from curbs and alleys after pick-ups occur so they do not get damaged from plowing activities (future snow events too). Also, please do not place your garbage cans in the street, they must be behind the curb. If your can is destroyed because of improper placement, the replacement cost may be charged to you.

Please be advised that today, January 27, the City of Park Falls will be burning the brush pile located behind the City Garage, at 96 Case Avenue. I anticipate this burning for several days. It is a substantial brush pile. We have done everything that we can to minimize the impact of the smoke to the surrounding areas. Thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE 1/26/26:
We still have openings for females to get spayed for only $25 at the Hayward location on this Thursday, January 29 and next Thursday, February 5. Go online to our website to schedule.

UPDATE 1/22/26: There was a HUGE need in the area for these $25 surgeries. Thank you for everybody who shared this post. We still have several male spots available for these $25 surgeries. You have to specifically search in the scheduling app for neuter surgeries. Most spots for female spay surgeries have filled, but we still have a few openings left on February 5 and February 19, 2026. If you cannot get your cat in for this $25 opportunity, please keep in mind that our normal prices are very affordable. They are 1/3 of the cost of most full service veterinarians. Our normal spay price is $115 and $85 for neuters If these are outdoor kitties and you don’t mind having their ear tipped, then the cost is only $80 and that includes a rabies vaccine. //**//

ADDITIONALLY – PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO PURPLE CAT PEOPLE 501(c)3! THIS IS A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION AND IT ALLOWS FOR US TO DO MORE $25 CLINICS! INFORMATION BELOW ON HOW TO DONATE

*UPDATE* The owner of the snowmobile kindly contacted the police department to speak to us and take responsibility. For that, we are grateful. I can only request that everyone keep their comments respectful and be kind to each other, but knowing the internet and social media, I'm not sure my request will mean much. In any event, thank you to all who viewed the post and offered helpful information or feedback. The police department sincerely thanks the Park Falls Department of Public Works for all their hard work and dedication in clearing our streets and moving the snow. It is my understanding they will likely be out again overnight to clean up whatever additional snow falls or blows around today/tonight.
*UPDATE*

Good Afternoon everyone. That was quite a storm. We wanted to pass something on to you. As you know, the reason we have winter parking restrictions and officers issue citations from time to time is for this reason.

So, this situation is not okay. A snowmobile was left on Icehouse Road off of Sherry Avenue. While this is a little known street it is used often by the residents that live on it. The alert snowplow driver saw the snowmobile in time and was able to avoid it, however as you can see from the pictures he ended up in a bad position.

We have been unable to identify the owner of this older model Ski Doo/Bombardier Formula Z snowmobile from the VIN number or registration number. If this is your snowmobile, or you know who owns it, please contact the police department.
