This year, the City of Park Falls is required by the Department of Revenue to complete a revaluation of property assessments. Over the summer, the assessor is completing this work and notices will be sent to all property owners with the new assessment in about a month. While the assessments are bound to rise, that does not necessarily mean that property taxes will increase because the tax rate (mill rate) will drop. The City will not get additional revenue because of the revaluation. Property taxes for the City are only allowed to increase by the rate of the new construction each year which historically has been less than one percent. If your property value increases less than average you may see a decrease, those properties that increased more than average may see an increase because of the revaluation. The revaluation provides an updated comparison as to how your property is valued to other properties. We will work to help answer your questions as this process moves forward.

At the request of the Mayor, and in response to the Price County Review article that was posted and pulled yesterday, I have prepared an explanation on the data center ordinances that the City recently adopted. These regulations were methodically thought through to protect the City from particular issues that have been appearing in other communities. Without these ordinances, the City would have no protections or regulations in place. Here is the link to the detailed explanationhttps://cityofparkfallswi.gov/documents/143/Letter_86_Data_Centers.pdf , and the links to the approved ordinanceshttps://cityofparkfallswi.gov/documents/143/Ordinance_Data_Center_1_Final.pdfhttps://cityofparkfallswi.gov/documents/143/Ordinance_Data_Center_2_Final.pdf . Questions should be directed to me, and my contact information is in the letter. It is always good to hear it from the horse's mouth.

This is Mr. Grease Ball and his no-good friend Mr. Flushable Wipe. Mr. Grease Ball is made up of fats, oils, greases and p**p! They live in the sewer mains and like to join up with those trouble-causing Tree Root boys. Their “gatherings” can block your, and your neighbors, sewage from traveling down the sewer main like it is supposed to and cause backups into people’s basements. On occasion, they take trips all the way down to the treatment plant where they like to hang on to pipes and grates and harass the pumps too. You can help keep Mr. Grease Ball out of our sewer mains by making sure you do not pour FOG (fats, oils, and grease) down your drain and you can keep Mr. Flushable Wipe out of the sewer system too by not using them. Let’s keep our sewer mains flowing!
