This year, the City of Park Falls is required by the Department of Revenue to complete a revaluation of property assessments. Over the summer, the assessor is completing this work and notices will be sent to all property owners with the new assessment in about a month. While the assessments are bound to rise, that does not necessarily mean that property taxes will increase because the tax rate (mill rate) will drop. The City will not get additional revenue because of the revaluation. Property taxes for the City are only allowed to increase by the rate of the new construction each year which historically has been less than one percent. If your property value increases less than average you may see a decrease, those properties that increased more than average may see an increase because of the revaluation. The revaluation provides an updated comparison as to how your property is valued to other properties. We will work to help answer your questions as this process moves forward.
