Today just after 1200 the park Hills Fire Department received a walk in report of a building on fire just up the sreet from the station. Members were in the station from a previous call and 3760 immediately responded and was on the scene within minutes of the report. The building located on front street was last used as a residential care facility, but had been vacant for years. A second alarm was requested along with multiple tankers to supplement the hydrant water supply. Due to the size of the building and exposures of another building, addition alarms were requested. A 4th alarm was requested and with additional units the equivalent of our 5th alarm assignment was brought to the scene. Within 20 minutes the second and third floors collapsed into the first floor. Departments from multiple counties assisted and provided move ups to cover the county. Multiple master streams and aerials were used to extinguish the fire. During the initial size up it was also found that several brush fires had started between Rivermines Street and the railroad tracks. From the intense heat and winds.
The park Hills Fire Department would like to thank all assisting agencies that responded to this fire.
The building was confirmed to be vacant. There were no injuries reported.
We are aware that smoke will be visible for days. There is no danger from any smoldering fires in the basement. Heavy equipment was brought in to remove debris from the basement for extinguishment.
The Park Hills Fire Department would like to thank the Park Hills Domino's, the Leadington Hardeys, the Leadington McDonald's, and the Park Hills Harps for donations of water and food for all involved.
The fire is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshall's office.

In Loving Memory of Firefighter James Hayes

UPDATED

It is with the deepest sorrow that we share the passing of one of our own. Volunteer Firefighter James Hayes lost his life yesterday due to injuries sustained in an accident at his place of employment.

James was more than a firefighter, he was a dedicated servant to this community, a teammate, and a friend. His commitment to protecting others reflected the very best of what it means to wear this uniform.

Our hearts and thoughts are with his wife Kara, their two daughters, his family members, and all those who loved him. We stand united as a fire family in this time of tremendous loss, wrapping his loved ones in the strength and support of our brotherhood.

James’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

UPDATE
Funeral arrangements and visitation will be at the Coplin Funeral home located at 910 Taylor Ave in Park Hills. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm Friday October 24th. A short memorial service provided by the Ozark Fierefighters association will begin at 5pm with visitation continuing until 7pm.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Allen's family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Allen's family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Stegall.
Allen was one of the original employees when the 911 Center opened its doors in 1993. Serving with dedication and unmatched expertise, he became the Center’s IT Director, ensuring the technology that keeps our community safe ran smoothly for decades.

Allen’s commitment, knowledge, and friendship touched everyone he worked with. His legacy will live on through the systems he built and the lives he impacted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him during this difficult time.

🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder from the City of Park Hills & Park Hills Fire Department 🎆

As Independence Day approaches, we want to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

Here are a few important fireworks safety tips to help keep your holiday safe:

✅ Always follow local laws and ordinances
✅ Never allow young children to handle fireworks
✅ Light fireworks one at a time, then move away quickly
✅ Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of fire
✅ Never relight a "dud" firework—wait 20 minutes and soak it in water
✅ Never point or throw fireworks at another person
✅ Avoid using fireworks while impaired by alcohol or drugs
✅ Only light fireworks outdoors in a clear, open area away from buildings, trees, and vehicles
✅ Dispose of spent fireworks by soaking them in water before placing them in a trash can

Remember, illegal fireworks and careless handling can lead to serious injuries, fires, and legal consequences. Let's work together to ensure a fun and safe celebration for all!

If you have questions about fireworks regulations or safety, please contact City Hall at 573-431-3577.

Stay safe, Park Hills!
