As we come to the close of Community Action Month, we couldn’t let it end without recognizing the heart of our work—our incredible East Missouri Action Agency staff.

Day in and day out, they show up with resourcefulness, dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving others without judgment. They meet people where they are, lift them up in times of need, and work tirelessly to create stronger, more resilient communities.

Because of them, lives are changed, hope is restored, and opportunities are created.

To our staff: thank you for all that you do, for the care you give, and for the difference you make every single day.

As Community Action Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say something simple but meaningful: thank you.

To our customers, thank you for trusting East Missouri Action Agency. Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you, support you, and be part of your journey. It is a privilege to serve you and to be welcomed into your lives and your communities.

Every connection, every story, and every step forward is what makes this work so important. You are the reason we do what we do.

With just one day left in Community Action Month, we’re reflecting on the strength, resilience, and partnership that define our community and we’re grateful to be part of it.

Community Action is rooted in people; neighbors, families, leaders, and partners working together to build stronger communities.

During Community Action Month, we’re excited to share and recognize that Representative Dale Wright, was recently honored with a Legislative Champion Award for his support of East Missouri Action Agency and the communities we serve at the recent Missouri Community Action Network conference.

His willingness to listen, help build relationships, and advocate reflects what Community Action is all about. This work is driven not only by agencies and leaders, but by the voices and experiences of community members themselves.

As Representative Wright shared about why he ran for office, aligns with our work every day:

“Try to give a voice to those who didn’t have a voice and those who needed help—that is the work you’re engaged in. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for so many people. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.”

Together, we’re working on building communities that thrive. Thank you Representative Wright for all of your support of the work we do at EMAA every day.

We can't finish celebrating Community Action Month, without taking a moment to recognize and thank the dedicated members of East Missouri Action Agency’s Board of Directors.

Often working behind the scenes, our board members help guide important decisions, ask the hard questions, and provide valuable insight and support that strengthens our agency and mission. Their leadership helps ensure our staff can continue showing up every day for the individuals and families we serve across our communities.

Thank you for your time, commitment, and belief in the work EMAA does. Your service makes a lasting impact, and we are grateful for all you do to help us build stronger communities together. đź’™

📣 There’s Still Time to Make Your Voice Heard!

As we continue celebrating Community Action Month, EMAA is continuing the work of “Helping People & Changing Lives” — and one of the most important ways we do that is by listening to our communities. Our 2026 Community Needs Assessment is still open through June 8th, and we need your feedback!

Whether you are an EMAA customer, community member, local employer, partner agency, elected official, volunteer, or simply someone who cares about our communities, your input matters. The Community Needs Assessment (CNA) helps us better understand the real challenges families and individuals are facing across the counties we serve.

The information gathered through this survey helps EMAA:
âś… Identify gaps in services and unmet needs
âś… Shape programs and future services
âś… Guide funding opportunities and grant applications
âś… Strengthen partnerships and community collaboration
âś… Ensure community voices are at the center of the work we do

Statistics and reports only tell part of the story — hearing directly from the people who live and work in our communities gives us the insight we need to make a lasting impact. Every response helps us continue building stronger, healthier communities together.

🗓️ Survey closes June 8th

Thank you for helping EMAA continue the mission of Community Action by coming together to create solutions, support families, and strengthen our communities for the future. đź’™
