White Family Trust Tree Farm

White Family Trust Tree Farm This farm has been in the White Family since 1929 when it was established as a truck farm. Over nea Beavers used to live in the pond. Maybe again sometimes.

Anyone is welcome to enjoy the several miles of walking, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing trails (at no cost) through a pine and mixed hardwood forest with a swampy area and meadow for good measure. You may see white tailed deer, skunks, squirrels, grey or red foxes, fishers, bear, sometimes an otter. Meanwhile you might find various types of ducks or a salamander. Take your birding book

and your tree ID book. There is no smoking, no fires, no motorized vehicles. Leashed pets are welcome! Please pick up after them. Please check on this page for notices of hunters being in the area. Call before going out into the farm so we know you are out there in case of emergencies. 218-616-0953. Please help keep trails clear by picking up debris such as branches on trail and tossing it to the sides. Please leave a light paw print on the farm picking up your litter if any.

Is your dog lost? On north end of Chippewa Loop. Appears to have come out of the tree farm. Blue collar kind of short in statue. Not sure the breeds but may have some Boxer in it. Headed towards County 6 at last sighting.

Daisy season but what is the next flower? I’ve never seen that out in the woods before. Actually, it was on the slope on the way down to the Beaver Pond on the east side.

While I was mowing yesterday, I saw two loose dogs in the swamp by the Beaver pond. One was an large golden Labrador type seemed older. The other one was a younger golden retriever type. I’m pretty sure it was young. It was bouncing around. At any rate, they should not be running around on the tree farm without people or even with people. They should be with people not running around loose. I yelled at them to go home and they look kind of shame faced and turned around. I’m not sure if they got to where they were going though. Please keep your dogs at home if you’ve lost them call so we can go looking.
Bad picture but you get the idea if you recognize them. I hope you keep them home from now on.

Plenty of snow on the Tree Farm trail..Might be too deep for cross country skis but the snowshoeing should be great. We have a couple of pairs of snowshoes here if you want to try it out. Bundle up..it will be cold for the next couple of days. But the snow will stay around for sure.
