Park Rapids Fire Department Relief Association PRFD's core function is to serve and protect life, property, and promote fire prevention education.

The Fire Department's job is to serve and protect people and property. Park Rapids Volunteer Fire Department is involved in Fire Prevention for kids. They go to schools and conduct programs at the Fire Hall educating kids on the "do's" and "don'ts" when involved in fire situations. Many hours are spent in training to keep up with the different techniques for fighting all kinds of fires, using the

"Jaws of Life", and water rescue. The Fire Department is involved in many projects to serve the public.

We need your help!
Conditions are very dry. Your Park Rapids FF’s were dispatched today to another grass fire in the ditch. There were at least two separate fires and possibly three origins.
You can help mitigate these types of fires by making sure your chains cannot drag on a trailer, etc.
In this case there was a structure in close proximity, but thankfully not threatened.

Please be diligent about fire safety outdoors today.
The DNR restrictions will change today at 11am to no burning and last until 10pm tonight.
Weather conditions are ideal for wildfire ignition and rapid spread, typically involving very low humidity, strong winds, and warm temperatures. Outdoor burning bans and heightened fire restrictions often accompany these warnings.
