Installing the new columbarium at the Upper Valley Cemetery, Parkdale, Oregon. Many thanks to Randy Holmstrom, our Cemetery Manager, for spearheading and coordinating this effort. Thanks, also, to Ted & Martha Hansberger, Marv Routson, Steen McNerney, Hal Dykstra, Mark Willems, and Larry Rector for assisting with the installation. Rules and Regulations Effective January 1, 2024
(These prices are correct at time of posting but are subject to change. Please contact the Cemetery Manager for the current prices.)

1. Purchasing a plot
• Contact Cemetery Manager: Randy Holmstrom (541) 380-1130
• A plot is a single grave.
• Five (5) burials per plot are allowed, One (1) casket and four (4) cremations, or five (5) cremations. Once an ash is placed in a plot any additional placements must be ash

2. Rates (perpetual maintenance included)
• Plot price $900.00
• Ash plot (4 placements) $450.00
• Plastic casket liner $800.00
• Open/Close grave $950.00
• Open/Close ash $450.00
• Columbarium niche $2,000.00 (includes open & close up to 2 remains)
• Secondary rights of internment (Ash) $350.00
• Weekend/ holidays/after hrs. $300.00 (additional)
• Cost of moving headstones larger than flat style will be paid at market rate at the time the stone is to be moved.

3. Plaques for placement on wall are $200.00 plus engraving cost.

4. Plots, liners, opening, and closing must be paid for in full prior to opening the grave.

5. Caskets must be enclosed in a plastic liner or concrete vault.

6. Headstones:
• If headstones are other than the flat style, contact Manager.
• All headstones are to be laid in the east to west orientation.

7. No flowers or shrubs may be planted without the consent of the Committee.

8. Unneeded plots may only be sold back to the Cemetery at the price originally paid.

9. Bronze markers for veterans should be made through the Hood River Veterans Office.

10. Purchaser of a plot in the Upper Valley Cemetery needs to have some connection with the Upper Hood River Valley.

11. Once a year, all cemetery plots will be cleaned of all artificial adornments at the discretion of the Cemetery Manager.

12. Artificial flowers, potted plants, and other decorations not allowed April 1 through October 1, except for Memorial Day weekend.

13. All fees are due at the time of service and/or purchase.

14. All graves require a headstone placed within one (1) year. Headstones are required to be professionally installed. Contact Cemetery manager for recommended list of installers.

15. Ash plot headstones must be flat/flush with turf style.

The slab has been poured, and the columbarium has been ordered. For those who are interested, each niche will hold up to two urns. The cost per niche is $2,000. this includes open and close costs. There is a 10% discount for the first 15 niches purchased. There are a total of 48 niches available.
As always, these are available only for residents of the Upper Hood River Valley, or those with a close personal connection to the area.
