PVFD is remembering Max Davis, a former member of our department, who passed away too soon at the age of 24. Our heartfelt prayers are and have been with Max’s family.
Max joined in 2016 as a cadet. His brother Jake was already a member, and they were following in their dad Scott’s footsteps in public service. Even as a kid we remember Max as a very hard worker, always stepping up, and always upbeat and smiling. Side note, it was also pretty cool that a kid his age listened to The Highwaymen.
Max moved away several years ago, as some cadets do after high school, to pursue a career. And just like all of our former cadets, we cheer on their achievements and milestones even when we don’t stay in touch as often. We find ourselves at the fire station now and then, sharing memories and funny stories of past members.
Just a couple weeks ago at the firehouse, we were laughing about the time several of us went to Buffalo Wild Wings after training. I said anyone that doesn’t have cash, just order what you want, Mike’s buying. Max, all of about 130 lbs then, proceeds to order the 20-piece wings and buffalo chips (about 2,000 calories) and put away all of it. Max was also the only one of us who was even remotely competent at staying on his donkey during our charity basketball game.
We’ll miss you Max. Thanks for the laughs and the memories.
