The Chief Deputy was unfortunately well aware that a motorcycle was not in the cards based off of the likes a post got, however we do appreciate all of you who liked and shared !

The good news, he ended up getting his motorcycle after all, something to day dream over while he works on grant funding for the life size version. If that happens maybe we can convince the Sheriff to buy him some new boots, maybe genuine ostrich.

August we had an unfortunate loss to our community from a vehicle accident, and a family suffered extensive damage from a House Fire. Our condolences as those family's battle hardships, we hope they reach out for help within our community.

This month we did have some positives, the 4 best days of Summer and 1 grand prize winner of our coloring contest.

1 new Courthouse moved into, this month was not short of being busy with all the moving and events going on !

Our Coloring Contest came and went almost as fast as the summer and for the second year in a row we are excited to make this an annual tradition.

Congratulations Hannah on being the selected winner for 2026 and letting us make your design a sticker, we can't wait to hand them out. Congratulations to our other 10 winners who got some squishies and candy (we hear those are pretty popular right now).

Single Vehicle Accident.

August 27th in the evening hours a single vehicle, one occupant accident occured on 451st Avenue near 269th Street.

The result being a single vehicle fatal accident.

Arriving medical personnel and Law Enforcement attempted CPR however results proved unsuccessful. Our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Thank you to the amazon driver who reported the accident, the medical and fire personnel who arrived to assist and attempt life saving measures.

This is Xaiver and our Chief Deputy, who clearly has not had his fill of motorcycles after the Rally.

Xaiver is no stranger to our social media, maybe you have seen some of his . . . creatively negative comments on past post.

Today he called in for something small, no emergency but it did open up an opportunity. Knowing Xaiver is a motorcycle enthusiast who "theoretically" can do wheelies.

Chief Deputy Andrews didn't just show up, take the call and go about his day to help at the fair or continue moving things to the new courthouse. He got out his bike, had a second patrol Deputy go with him to handle the call and then invited Xaiver to go cruise around. Xaiver could have said no, but he chose to give us a chance and we hope this opens the door further for him with any future concerns.

This motorcycle ride won't solve every problem, this isn't even unique to just 1 Deputy in our County. This is the living embodiment this Office demands from all of our staff. Community is one of our Core Values and having the opportunity to build relationships with people is something we appreciate.

Turner County Chief Deputy Andrews, Viborg Police Chief Foley and Centerville Police Officer Rausch are finishing up a long week in the west.

Each year Law Enforcement from all over our State and the Country sign up to assist the Sturgis Police Department during the Rally. This opportunity not only helps our fellow law enforcement agencies, it gives our team the opportunity to meet leaders from all over. This rally host County Sheriff's, Police Chiefs, Assistant Police Chiefs, Chief Deputies, detectives and all other ranges of law enforcement experience.

We welcome all 3 of our local Law Enforcement back just in time for The best 4 days of Summer at the Turner County Fair.

Drug Arrest

In the early hours of August 1st a Turner County Deputy completed a traffic stop leading to the following discovery. The investigation was assisted by the Yankton County Sheriff's Office K9 unit.

Approximately 26 Pounds of Raw Ma*****na was located inside the vehicle. Methamphetamine residue found on the packing material and throughout the vehicle.
