We are aware of the smoke in our area and it seems to be moving in from the 3 Nebraska fires currently burning. The smoke is being carried on the leading edge of the cold front approaching. Please be safe and as always don't hesitate to call 911 if you observe smoke and flames in our county. Currently, there are no active fires in Elbert County.

Fire Weather Warning | High Wind & Fire Danger Tuesday Feb. 17 and Wednesday Feb. 18

A high wind event is expected Tuesday Feb. 17 through Wednesday Feb. 18, creating dangerous fire weather conditions across Elbert County.

What to Expect:
• Sustained winds 30-40 mph
• Wind gusts up to 65 mph
• Very dry air (10-15% humidity)

Fire Safety:
Red Flag Warnings are in effect due to strong winds and very low humidity. Fires can start easily and spread extremely fast.
• No outdoor burning
• Avoid activities that create sparks
• Secure chains, trailers, equipment
• Park vehicles away from tall grass

If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.

It is time again for the Rattlesnake Fire Station 253 Santa ride. We hope to see all of you along the route! Our route will be as follows: We will be leaving station 253 at 5pm and will begin our ride with Buckskin Road. We will then go east on Meadow Station Road going around the loop and towards London drive. We will turn left on London Drive until Ricki Drive where we will turn left going east. We will continue down Ricki Drive to Stockholm drive and back to London Drive. We will take London Drive south to Madrid Drive and turn left. We will follow Madrid Drive until Lisbon Drive and turn left and turn left again on Prairie Owl Road. We will follow Prairie Owl Road to Thunder hill where we will turn left and follow Thunder Hill Road to Vista Ridge Road. We will take Vista Ridge Road to County Road 13. We will then turn onto Cherry Way from County Road 13 and will take it back to Vista Ridge. We will go down Vista Ridge South to Eileen Way. We will turn on Thunder Hill from Eileen Way and head back down Prairie Owl Road. Following Prairie Owl back to Lisbon and onto Madrid, we will make our way north on London Drive all the way to Delbert Road where we will return to Station 253
