River Island State Park River Island State Park is ideal for tent campers and can provide a scenic respite, a desert escape, or a fun-filled water adventure.

It offers 37 campsites, a ramada, sandy beach, cove, and boat launch area. SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Check out this "not" so friendly camper at River Island. YES, that is a Badger ! They are native and wide spread across Arizona, they are rarely seen because they are mostly nocturnal. Of course this lil' guy is out in broad daylight.
Are you aware that badgers weigh 12 to 24 lbs. their front claws can grow up to 2" long, they eat a mix of animal and plant matter. They are a powerful burrowing mammal. They have also been known to team up with coyotes to hunt. Badgers prefer to avoid humans and will retreat if disturbed, but they can become fierce & aggressive if cornered.
Here is our "point" when we ask you to politely keep your pet on a leash for safety... This folks is another example why :)
