Winds continue to strengthen this afternoon with gusts up to 40 to 50 mph being observed west of the James River.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for this area through tonight.

Winds will wane on Friday before ramping back up for Saturday.

1015AM Thursday Update: A few thunderstorms may try to form late this evening and continue into the early morning hours of Friday.

An isolated strong to severe storm will be possible with marginally severe hail. The severe weather risk is NOT expected to be widespread and the coverage of storms may be focused moreso over central and eastern Iowa. We'll continue to monitor the storm potential through the day and keep you aware!

A couple of rounds of rainfall, with isolated non-severe thunderstorms will impact the area through Thursday morning. Today will see areas of rain moving east through the afternoon. Greater rainfall amounts today are expected near to south of I-90, where locally more than a half inch is possible. Light showers may linger over parts of northwest Iowa tonight into early Wednesday, but most locations will see a dry conditions. A band of moderate to heavy rainfall may lift back into portions of northwest Iowa late Wednesday through Wednesday night. This band has the greater potential to cause localized flooding issues, but uncertainty in the exact location of the heavier rainfall remains.
