WWW Interstate Planning Commission
Long-Range Transportation Plan Public Input
And Policy Board Meeting
The WWW Interstate Planning Commission (WWW) has prepared a final draft updated Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for Wood County, West Virginia and portions of Washington County, Ohio, including the townships of Newport, Marietta, Fearing, Muskingum, Warren, Dunham, and Belpre.
Efforts to update the LRTP began in the second half of 2025 and are expected to be complete by September 16, 2026. The LRTP identifies recommended improvements to the transportation system through year 2050. The LRTP considers needs related to roadways, transit, bikeways and walkways, rail, and aviation.
To help guide the development of this plan,
WWW has conducted extensive public involvement and stakeholder engagement. To date, public involvement efforts have included development of a project-specific website, an online public open house, surveys, and updates posted to the LRTP website. Stakeholder involvement efforts have included the formation of a transportation advisory group to help guide development of the plan, the facilitation of focus groups on the topics of Economic Development, Freight, Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation, and Transit, and interviews with key stakeholders throughout the region.
The final draft LRTP and an interactive map showing the recommendations included in the plan are available on the WWW Horizon 2050 LRTP website (https://horizon2050lrtp.org). The draft final LRTP is also available for review at the WWW office located at 709 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. We ask that you call WWW at 304.699.3721 in advance if you would like to review the Final Draft LRTP at the WWW office. We encourage you to review the draft final LRTP and provide input between September 1 and September 11, 2026. Following the 10-day public review period, the WWW Policy Board will meet on September 16, 2026, to vote on adoption of the Horizon 2050 LRTP. The WWW Interstate Planning Commission (WWW) will hold a quarterly meeting on September 16, 2026, at 10 AM in the conference room at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council located at 709 Market Street in Parkersburg, WV. The WWW meeting is open to the public and may be attended in person or virtually using the link provided on the agency website at triplew.org. The meeting agenda includes transportation project status reports, work progress report, Annual Listing of Federally Obligated Projects for FY 26, consideration for approval of the Washington County Coordinated Transportation Plan, consideration for approval of the Horizon 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan, consideration for approval of the Horizon 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan Air Quality Conformity Determination, and consideration of any amendments to the Fiscal Year 2026-2029 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for West Virginia or Ohio areas served by WWW. The agenda is subject to change as necessary to accommodate business that may arise after publication of this notice. The TIP documents highway, transit, and bicycle-pedestrian projects programmed over the four-year period utilizing federal funding. In accordance with the public participation requirements for WWW, anyone interested in reviewing the meeting materials and proposed actions can visit the agency website. WWW staff will also be available for comments by contacting Vincent Post III at (304) 699-3721. All comments must be submitted by 4 PM on September 15, 2026, to be considered in the decision-making process.
