The Town of Parksley is located in central Accomack County and was founded in 1885 by Henry R. Bennett was a paint salesman who resided in Dover, Delaware and sold his wares on the Eastern Shore. In 1906 Parksley was the first town on the Eastern Shore to have electricity available for homes. During World War II Parksley was Virginia's only Civil Air Patrol base. The base operated from April 16, 1

942 to August 31, 1943 and was the fourth established base in the nation. The Parksley base was home to 70 men and women & 25 aircraft at its peak.

Saturday, August 22, 2026 the Eastern Shore Railway Museum is having a Ice Cream Social from 4 to 6.
DJ Terry Collins will be there. We hopefully be opening the 1976 time capsule that's was buried in the park.
We invite vendors who would like to set up. Please message us at 757 990 2143 if interested.
We will have the sprinklers on for the kids so bring a chair enjoy the music and a towel if you want to cool off with the sprinklers. We hope to see you.
The opening of the time capsule will be around 3:30
