This week's Mosquito Warrior is Eric! 🦟💪
For 9 seasons, Eric has protected our community from mosquitoes - inspecting and treating unmaintained swimming pools, conducting yard inspections, and addressing other mosquito-producing sources throughout the District.
Eric's efforts are essential to reducing mosquito populations, preventing mosquito-borne diseases, and keeping our neighborhoods safer for everyone. 🦟🚫

Did you know mosquitoes can develop in just a small amount of standing water? Eliminating water sources around your home is one of the most effective ways to help prevent West Nile virus. 💧🚫
Take a few minutes to check your yard for items that can collect water, including:
✅ Buckets
✅ Old tires
✅ Children's toys
✅ Birdbaths
✅ Pet bowls
Tip and Toss containers with standing water regularly. This simple step helps stop mosquitoes before they become a problem and protects your family and community. 🏡💙

🦟 West Nile Virus is spread primarily through the bite of an infected mosquito. Protect yourself with these simple prevention tips:

🦟 Cover up. Wear loose, light-colored, long-sleeved shirts and pants to keep your skin protected.
🦟 Repel. Apply an EPA-registered repellent any time you're outside for extended periods.
🦟 Tip and toss. Dump standing water from buckets, pots, and other containers around your property — eliminating development sites stops mosquitoes before they start.
Small steps, big protection. 💪

Have you been noticing a lot of mosquitoes in your yard and can't find where they're coming from? Well, yard drains may be the reason! We recommend covering all yard drains with a piece of window screen under the cap to eliminate a source where mosquitoes could develop.
