Traffic Collision / Felony Hit-and-Run

On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 7:35 a.m., Parlier Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Tulare Street and Bigger Street regarding an injured person lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a 49-year-old Parlier resident had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

During the course of the investigation, a Parlier Officer located the involved vehicle and driver and took the driver into custody without incident. The driver, a 28-year-old male resident, was booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony hit-and-run.

At this time, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were contributing factors to the collision.

This remains an active investigation.

Happy Friday! Just a friendly reminder that eastbound Parlier Avenue is closed to through traffic due to the construction for the Roundabout at Parlier and Newmark Avenues which is expected through the beginning of August.

There are Detour signs in place directing you around the construction which still allow you access to local businesses in the area. Do not cut through the State Foods Parking Lot to get to your destination on the other side of town. Failing to obey a traffic sign or signal is a violation of CVC21461(a). Officers will be monitoring this and issuing citations for the violations.
