A reminder that under Parma Ordinance No. 59-22, the possession, discharge, ignition, and explosion of fireworks are prohibited within the City of Parma.

That means no:
• Black Cats
• Roman Candles
• Screaming Mimis
• Cherry Bombs
• Spleen Splitters
• Whisker Biscuits
• Ho**ey Lighters
• Hoosker Doos
• Hoosker Don’ts
• Nipsy Daisys (with or without the scooter stick)

Puritas Nursery is a Cleveland institution, but Parma turned out in force to celebrate the new owners, Joe Donley and Joe Szudarek. 🌻

The Donley family has spent years showing up for Parma’s businesses, charities, schools, and community events, and we were happy to return the favor.

On a day hot enough to wilt a few flowers, County Councilman Marty Sweeney emceed the ribbon cutting while Parma Mayor Timothy J. DeGeeter, Linndale Mayor Ashlee McLaughlin and Parma Councilman Vito Dipierro welcomed the new owners and wished them success. County Councilman Dale Miller presented a proclamation, and the rain courteously waited until the very end—just in time for Cleveland Councilman Charles Slife’s remarks.

Congratulations to the new owners! May your plants get plenty of water and your business continue to grow 🌱🌦️

Saturday’s Time Capsule opening was part history lesson, part game show.

One by one, Council members pulled items from a 1976 time capsule that nobody had opened—or even inventoried—in 50 years. Some treasures were easy to identify: old newspapers, historic photos, and Bicentennial commemorative mugs and plates.

Others prompted responses ranging from “I remember that!” to “What in the world is this?”

A little water damage added to the mystery, but the afternoon was filled with surprises, stories, and a few unidentified artifacts that may remain part of the legend forever.
