With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that Mary Griggs, who led Community Personnel Services since 2018 until retiring earlier this year, has passed away. Mary was a tireless, deeply knowledgeable, and outspoken advocate for individuals with special needs. Mary was an exceptional administrator of our CPS program, with a heart of gold. We could always count upon her to go the extra mile to provide help and guidance for clients. She was often sought out by others, and did not hesitate to provide help for persons with disabilities who were not affiliated with CPS or ECLC. She will be greatly missed after a long career of compassionate service. Prior to joining CPS, she spent years working on improving the lives of underserved families in New Jersey. Her advocacy focused on families and children with disabilities and volunteerism included coordinating services for physically challenged young adults; organizing services for homeless shelters; and serving on the Board of Covenant House New Jersey, helping families and children with HIV. Mary joined CPS as an Employment Specialist in 2005. She was promoted to Assistant Director in 2007, and then to Director in 2018. She will be remembered and missed by her colleagues at CPS and ECLC; the adult clients and families whose lives she touched; and many in the special-needs community. A Memorial Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 19, at the Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Assumption Church, 91 Maple Ave., Morristown. ๐๐ข๐๐ป
