‼️INFORMATIVE POST‼️
‼️LONG POST, PLEASE READ‼️
‼️PLEASE SHARE‼️
In 2022 for the first time, the Republican Party in Decatur County called for County level offices to have a Primary Election instead of a caucus. This simply means the people got to vote for a candidate to represent the party for a particular office instead of the party choosing a candidate.
In certain cases, if unopposed by a Democratic or Independent candidate, the Primary Election can determine who wins the office.
This year’s election for Assessor of Property fits just this case.
There are 3 candidates running for the office and all are running as Republicans. There are no Democratic or Independent candidates qualified. This means the Republican Primary Election will determine the office! The winner will be unopposed in the County General Election in August.
In addition to the Primary deciding the office, it is earlier than “normal” this year. Since it is also a Presidential Election year, the two primaries(County and Presidential) are held on the same ballot and will be on MARCH 5TH 2024(Super Tuesday)! With early voting running from February 14th - 27th.
I have encountered several people that were unsure about the process since it is relatively new for County positions, so I wanted to try to be as helpful and informative as possible. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have and if I don’t know the answer I will do my best to get one for you!
Also, the Voter Registration deadline is February 5th, 2024. I have registration forms and will be glad to get you one or they can be picked up at the Decatur County Election Commission Office in Decaturville.
I say all of that to say this. If you would like to vote for myself or one of the other two candidates for Decatur County Assessor of Property, you will have to specify you would like to vote in the Republican Primary when you go VOTE in February or March!
Your vote would be greatly appreciated!
