From our friends at Jackson-Madison County Library.
Parsons Public Library is located in the south end of the Parsons Municipal Building.
From our friends at Jackson-Madison County Library.
The library will open in a restricted capacity beginning June 15, 2020, upon the condition that the library will have cleaning, disinfecting, safety, and sanitizing supplies. These supplies are hard to obtain at this time but we hope to have them soon. If we are unable to obtain or keep necessary supplies, the library will stay in Phase II operation.
Patrons will be allowed to enter the library ten at a time and use hand sanitizer provided by the library. Wearing of masks is encouraged. The bathrooms will not be available to the public at this time. Patrons may only select materials and immediately check out and leave. There will be no sitting, standing, or socializing inside the library. Children will not be allowed to play with puzzles, games, Lego table, etc. while in the library. A parent should also select the materials for them so there is as little handling of materials as possible.
The computers will be available to the public on a limited basis. We will allow two patrons at a time to use the computers, sitting 6 feet apart, and wearing masks and using hand sanitizer provided by the library. The time limit will be for one hour and stations will be cleaned between each patron usage. We ask that you do not use the time for games, facebook, etc. Computers will be used for unemployment, resumes, job searches, etc. Due to social distancing, library staff will be unable to assist patrons on the computers.
The Tennessee room will remain closed to the public. Materials will continue to be returned in the bookdrop and will not be accepted by staff or allowed to be brought inside the library.
We will remain in this phase until certain restrictions are lifted or other conditions allow us to move forward or return to phase II.

The week of May 11, we will begin curbside service. Details to follow. Our aim is to provide service without endangering the health of our patrons or staff.
In preparation for reopening the library, we are asking you to return any items you have out by putting them in the book drop for the next two weeks, beginning today. They will be sanitized so they may be safely checked out when we are able to do so. Overdue fees are not being charged. In the interest of the safety of the public and our staff, the library will remain closed this week and next week as preparations are made to reopen in stages. Further plans will be announced as they are finalized. With perseverance and patience, we can get through this together. PLEASE SHARE.

When it comes to child sexual abuse, reactions from "safe" adults often are in the form of denial, or even a claim a child is lying. Numerous studies show however that children almost never lie when it comes to matters of sexual abuse. Take time to recognize the warning signs and remember to be a good listener to what a child is telling you, either with their words or behaviors.
