We finished off our Sky's the Limit class Thursday with Mrs. Pifer's students. They were aeronautical engineers and designed a flying technology that would carry passengers in the wind tunnel.

They applied the principles they learned over the last few days and demonstrated growth mind set.

The Sky's the Limit Finale

Day 3: Students in Mrs. O'Brien's class explored Bernoulli's Principle and designed a flying disc to achieve lift. The fan favorite was launching helicopters outside.

Day 4: Our aeronautical engineers learned that the Wright Brothers faced many setbacks and challenges but continued to work toward their dream and never gave up. Their final challenge was to construct a flying technology that would keep two passengers in the air in the wind tunnel for five seconds or 1 passenger in the air for three seconds when dropped.

The 5th graders at DTEMS know "The Sky is the Limit" as they learn about aeronautical engineers.

Day 1: They explored different materials and designed and created their own flying technology that they tested in a wind tunnel.

Day 2: They learned how the Wright Brothers got their start and what sparked their interest in flying. Then they improved their favorite drop copter design and compared them to a maple seed falling from a tree.
