Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development (MPYD) is a nonprofit mentoring organization located inside historic John Muir High School in Pasadena, CA.

MPYD is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 at John Muir High School. Then Principal Eddie Newman, Ed.D, recognized that the behavior of the male student body contributed to a number of concerns such as low academic scores, violence and truancy. To help the students, Principal Newman recruited community leaders Tecumseh Shackelford, Gene Campbell, Velton Paggett, Johnnie Driver, Del Yarbroug

h and Gary Moody to volunteer to work with school administrators and focus on the male students to bring order to the campus and cultivate a more positive learning environment. Today, MPYD offers a variety of services to assist students in gaining the knowledge and experience they need to become prepared, efficient, and successful members of society.
