It was an honor to celebrate Northeast High School students Jacob Blunt and Landon Chubbuck, who were the recipients of the Candace C.W. Antwine Military Service Award, at the scholarship dinner a few weeks ago.

The award reduces financial barriers to military service by providing funds for expenses related to enlisting, including uniforms and basic training supplies. The program was created in 2021 to honor the military and civic service of Antwine, a former school board member who died that year. Blunt and Chubbuck were presented with $1,500 checks at a Wednesday Anne Arundel County Board of Education meeting.

When the proposal came out to put 94 townhouses at Edwin Raynor Blvd and Mountain Road, I was furious (like so many of you). The zoning on this property was changed to allow for a gas station at the corner and commercial / medical office space - not houses. The developers changed up, so I immediately started working to change up too. For the last few years, I’ve been working with Anne Arundel County Public Library on a new Mountain Road Library. This presented an opportunity and together we’re now working to acquire this property for the county and use it for a combination new Mountain Road Library and new Pasadena Senior Center. There is money in this year’s county budget to conduct a feasibility study on this property, and the hope is that by the end of 2026 the County will be purchasing this land to add these new facilities and services to our community, while also stopping the development of housing here. Please sign this petition to show your support for the County to buy this land to put in a new Mountain Road Library and Pasadena Senior Center!

Officially cut the ribbon this morning on the new Magothy Bridge Rd bridge! This was a project that I’m so glad we were able to fund and complete in my time on the County Council. It’s a major connector for our community with over 16,000 vehicles traveling this route each day. The traffic challenges throughout the construction were significant, but the community was an excellent partner and it was all completed safely. Great job by Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works on this project and all their partners, including Maryland State Highway Administration. Really solid investment to keep our infrastructure strong in District 3!
