Pasadena Community Foundation

Pasadena Community Foundation Serving Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre since 1953.

The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) was founded in 1953 with the goal to address "current needs unmet and future needs unforeseen." To meet these needs, the community foundation works with local families and groups to build hometown legacies that provide enduring support for its mission to improve and enrich the lives of people in the greater Pasadena area. Now, more than sixty years after its

inception, the public-spirited organization remains unique in that it supports a broad spectrum of charities from arts organizations to human services agencies. Through an annual competitive application process, grants are awarded to Pasadena non-profits from endowments for which the PCF Board has discretion. Additional grants are generated through donor advised funds, family foundation funds, and other charitable funds where individuals or advisory committees direct the grants to charities anywhere in the country.

✨ Strengthening Pasadena’s Creative Community ✨
Today, PCF announces its 2025 Arts & Culture Grant awards to 28 local arts & culture organizations, which include emerging groups and long‑standing cultural anchors.

These grants arrive at a critical moment. Arts organizations continue to face financial and operational challenges following the pandemic and the Eaton Fire, yet their work remains essential to community healing and connection.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors — including a special gift from June & Simon Li — we’re proud to provide flexible support that helps keep Pasadena’s arts community strong, accessible, and resilient.

This week, Pasadena Community Foundation and the Altadena Builds Back Foundation released the 2025 Impact Report. It reflects a year of extraordinary effort across our community and the role we have played in supporting long‑term recovery. 🫶

Thanks to the commitment of donors, community partners, and frontline nonprofits, more than $24 million in PCF funding has supported housing stability, cash assistance, childcare recovery, mental health programs, and case management. This progress belongs to the many organizations and individuals who stepped forward in a difficult year, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication.

We also know that recovery is far from complete and the path ahead will take time. The 2025 Impact Report shares both the meaningful strides made so far and the ongoing needs that will shape the next phase of rebuilding.

➡️ We invite you to read the full report and learn more about the impact our community has created together.

Remediation is a critical step in rebuilding and restoring fire-damaged homes so families can return safely. This involves cleanup, testing, decontamination, and restoration from damage caused by fire, smoke, soot, and water. Unaddressed, this damage presents hazards to the health and safety of the home's inhabitants.

Yet, remediation comes with high costs, often not covered by insurance. Roughly one in five survivors with standing homes have not been able to test for contaminants. Of homes that have been tested, 70% have unacceptable levels of contaminants, according to the Department of Angels’ January 2026 Fire Recovery Report.

To help alleviate this financial burden, the Altadena Builds Back Foundation (ABBF) is partnering with The Change Reaction to provide remediation services to Eaton Fire survivors.

The funds from this grant will help at least 20 families return home to Altadena. ❤️

On January 7, 2026, A Concert for Altadena did more than just bring our community together in remembrance: its proceeds set in motion a significant grant from our supporting organization, the Altadena Builds Back Foundation (ABBF), that will bring 20 families home. Today, in partnership with The Change Reaction, ABBF announces a $500,000 grant to support remediation for Eaton Fire survivors in Altadena.

The Change Reaction is taking this impact even further with a dollar-for-dollar match that will double the impact of ABBF’s $500,000 grant, bringing the total funding amount to $1 million.

ABBF is incredibly grateful to the concert organizers and performers — especially Dawes and Eric Krasno — and The Change Reaction for leveraging this grant to maximize community impact. Thank you for helping Altadena families return home safely!

Pasadena Community Foundation staff members Staci and Candice joined some dynamite fundraisers on Saturday night - the young women behind the second annual Skate for LA!
Students at Maranatha High School and Westridge School, these skaters from the Pasadena Ice Skating Center are raising fire relief funds for PCF's Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund, Pasadena Educational Foundation and Altadena Girls. With food, a DJ, and great exercise, the evening was a huge success. PCF appreciates the dedication of these young philanthropists!

We’re excited to announce that our supporting organization, the Altadena Builds Back Foundation, has awarded a $500,000 grant to The Foothill Catalog Foundation.

ABBF’s grant will enable the Foothill Catalog Foundation to support upward of 50 families who might otherwise be unable to rebuild. Foothill Catalog’s preapproved designs can reduce pre-construction costs by up to 95% and significantly shorten construction timelines — while also helping to preserve Altadena’s architectural identity and cultural heritage.

We’re proud to support organizations like The Foothill Catalog Foundation that are streamlining the rebuilding process and bringing families home faster.
