Understanding rent increase rules can help both tenants and landlords plan ahead and avoid surprises.

In Pasadena, rent increases for rent-stabilized units must follow specific requirements, including timing, notice, and allowable limits. The current Annual General Adjustment (AGA) is 2.25%, and increases above this amount require approval.

Understanding when a tenant may be required to move can help both tenants and landlords navigate rental housing with confidence. In Pasadena, just-cause protections apply to most residential units and are designed to promote housing stability by limiting when a tenant may be required to move for specific, legally defined reasons. Some exemptions may apply, so it’s important to understand how these rules apply to your situation.

Have questions? Speak with a Housing Counselor for guidance. (626) 744-7999
