Don't forget that Mayor's Youth Council applications are due on Monday!

LAST CHANCE - Applications due Monday!

The City of Pascagoula is looking for well-rounded students who are passionate about being involved in the City. Youth Council members will engage with industry professionals to learn the many opportunities that awaits them in Pascagoula when making their future plans. Our hope is to provide members with a behind-the-scenes look at their City. Additionally, members will be able to aid in service initiatives to help community organizations, engage with city leadership and participate in various events.

The Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council will be eligible for new members that are 11th grade students only. Additionally, 12th graders that have previously served on the council are eligible to reapply to serve again. Previous involvement does not guarantee you a spot on this year's council.

Applicant MUST:

- Be a Pascagoula resident

- Attend a school in Pascagoula

- Participate in all scheduled meetings. The Youth Council meets once a month August through April.

- Attend other meetings or events as opportunities arise

- Complete service hours as opportunities arise

Please complete the following application by filling out every space with as much detail as possible. Minimal effort to responses will be counted against you. NO responses utilizing ChatGPT will be counted - we can tell!

Before applying for the Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council, please weigh your current responsibilities to school, work, academics, faith, community, etc. against the time required to actively participate on the Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council. The Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council will meet monthly. Each meeting will be either a Program Day, where you will be excused from school and tour various businesses and organizations, a service initiative or a guest speaker.

Attendance and participation will be evaluated periodically throughout the year and lack of attendance and participation can result in consequences or possible termination from the program.

*Application deadline: June 15, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

You will be notified of acceptance or denial by end of July.

What a perfect way to close out the last teacher work day! Today, the PHS staff gathered for our annual End of the Year Staffulty Awards to celebrate the incredible team that makes our school so special.

Our admin team kicked things off by recognizing staff members for their outstanding achievements this year, ranging from the Rookie of the Year to the Above and Beyond Award. We also took a meaningful moment to present two special awards in memory of two truly amazing PHS educators who will always be in our hearts: Melinda Mitchell and Ollie Armstrong.

πŸŽ‰ Happy Retirement! πŸŽ‰
The highlight of the day was honoring our three wonderful retirees. We officially said a bittersweet goodbye to:

Mrs. Catchot 🌟
Mrs. Jones 🌟
Mrs. Taite 🌟

Thank you all for your years of unwavering dedication, love, and service to PHS. You have left a lasting legacy here, and we hope you enjoy your well-deserved retirement!

To wrap up a fantastic afternoon, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch together. We are so incredibly grateful for this staffulty family. Have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer, Panthers!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

One of the Pascagoula-Gautier School District's most recent accomplishments is our transition to a fully online student registration process. This move allows families to complete registration more conveniently from home while helping the district improve efficiency, accuracy, and communication. Online registration also enables us to better plan for staffing, transportation, scheduling, and student services well in advance of the school year.

Registering your child on time is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Early registration helps schools prepare class schedules, assign teachers, arrange transportation routes, and ensure that all necessary resources are in place before students arrive on the first day of school.

At this time, only 56% of our students have been registered for the upcoming school year. We appreciate the families who have already completed the process and encourage all others to do so as soon as registration reopens.

While registration is currently closed as we prepare for the next phase of enrollment, online registration will reopen on June 15, 2026, for new students to the district and for returning students who have not yet completed registration.

Please be aware that there will not be designated face to face registration days this year. All registration will be completed through the district's online registration system.

We understand that some families may need assistance navigating the online process. To support those families, the district is currently planning registration help days and assistance locations where staff will be available to provide technical support and answer questions. These sessions are designed to help families complete the online registration process and should not be confused with traditional face to face registration. Additional information regarding dates, times, and locations will be shared soon.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue working to make Pascagoula-Gautier School District the district of choice for students, staff, and families. Your timely attention to registration helps us provide the best possible educational experience for every child.

Together, we remain committed to our mission of preparing Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Dr. Caterria B. Payton
Superintendent
Pascagoula-Gautier School District

Alumni Spotlight: Sean Smith

Congratulations to Sean Smith on making it to the NCAA Super Regional. Panther Nation will be cheering you and the Mountaineers on!

⚾️ **Pascagoula Youth Baseball Congratulates Sean Smith on Reaching the NCAA Super Regional!** ⚾️

Everyone at PYB would like to congratulate former PYB standout Sean (JR) Smith on helping lead the West Virginia University baseball to the NCAA Super Regional!

Sean's baseball journey began right here on our fields, where he spent six years playing Pascagoula Youth Baseball. During that time, he earned All-Star honors every season and established himself as one of the top young players in our league. Sean led the league in batting average and home runs every year except one, setting the standard for excellence through hard work, dedication, and a love for the game.

One of the highlights of his youth baseball career came when he helped lead Pascagoula to the Mississippi State DYB Championship, earning the opportunity to represent both Pascagoula and the State of Mississippi in the 12U Ozone World Series*

Sean continued his success at Pascagoula High School, where he put together an outstanding senior season in 2021. He batted .426 collecting 40 hits, 37 RBIs, 32 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple, and six home runs**, while posting a remarkable .594 on-base percentage. His leadership and production helped guide the Panthers to the Mississippi Class 5A State Championship Series.

After Pascagoula, Sean continued his baseball career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, then moved on to Georgia Southern University, where he became one of the Sun Belt Conference most productive hitters. Today, he is competing at the highest level of college baseball with West Virginia University, helping the Mountaineers earn a spot in the NCAA Super Regional.

From Pascagoula Youth Baseball to the national stage, Sean has represented our community with class, determination, and excellence every step of the way.

We are incredibly proud of you, Sean, and wish you and the Mountaineers the best of luck as your postseason journey continues!

πŸ”΅βšΎοΈ Once a PYB All-Star, always a member of the PYB family. Congratulations, Sean! βšΎοΈπŸ”΅
