One of the topics that concerns constituents the most is growth. Whether we're doing a good job of managing our growth, whether we should stop growth, how we plan, how we assign land uses, and zoning, etc.

What most folks don't realize is that Olympia, under the Growth Management Act, requires us to grow (Washington State is one of only four states in the U.S. that mandates growth, Oregon, Florida, and Maine being the other three).

With that in mind, the Comprehensive Plan of the City is the mechanism that implements the Growth Management Act. The good news for residents, voters, constituents, and anyone else interested is that there will be SEVERAL public hearings as the Plan goes through its six-year update process. Please be sure to follow the City's social media pages for the most up to date information to be able to participate.

Good morning, Pasco!

After a nationwide search, the City Council voted unanimously last night to select three finalists for the City Manager position:

Harold Stewart, current City Manager of Minot, ND

David Stockdale, current City Manager of Umatilla, OR

Eric Swanson, current City Manager of Phoenix, OR

Stay tuned for an upcoming community open house in mid-July — a great opportunity to meet the candidates and share your feedback with Council before a final decision is made!

Pasco Friends - please make plans to attend our open house next week to discuss the future of Peanuts Park North. This area is an important and strategic location that will continue to improve and revitalize downtown Pasco...if done right. That's where the public comes in. We are starting with a relatively blank slate and I would love to hear your input on what you would like to see in this area. See you next week! Tuesday, June 17th, 6pm-7pm.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since my last update, but I have some exciting news to share. The City of Pasco will be hosting a series of community meetings in the coming days to discuss the new Transportation Improvement Plan. Traffic concerns are a top priority, and this is an excellent opportunity for you to share your thoughts and help shape our city's future.

City staff and Council members are eager to hear your feedback on various issues, including road extensions, connectivity, sidewalks, ADA ramps, speeding, and traffic calming measures. Historically, these meetings have low attendance, which means your voice can significantly impact the decisions made.

I encourage you to attend one of the three meetings scheduled across the west, central, and east regions of Pasco. Your input is invaluable, and we look forward to your participation.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!

I had the opportunity this week to tour the construction site of the Pasco Resource Recovery Center (PRRC). This project is a partnership between Burnham RNG and the City of Pasco to expand the city’s industrial wastewater treatment capabilities.

Once compete the facility will turn industrial process water into clean water and generate Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). The new capabilities will lead to increased opportunities in agribusiness, especially for large processors like Simplot, Darigold, Resers, and Pasco Processing.

Thank you to Colin Hastings for organizing the tour, and to Chris and Alicia from Burnham, and Maria and Michael from the City for their wealth of information shared.
