Thank you to those who have reached out inquiring about my decision to apply for the At-Large vacant Pasco City Council seat. I am humbled by your belief in my heart and leadership. However, due to the election win of my husband Scott Lehrman returning back onto the Pasco School Board, I won’t be applying for the open seat.

Congratulations to Scott and to our community for returning him to the school Vote Scott Lehrman for Pasco School Board

As a family, we know the sacrifices it takes to support one who is elected. We know of the absences at family events, the heavy shoulders from taking on opinions, misinformation, turncoats, racism and how to think out of the box to solve problems before it affects families, staff and hopefully never the students. We know of the traveling and commitment of time seeking out diverse opinions while building relationships.

I do not take my commitment to my family and community lightly. I only go all in. My integrity matters and your support of me in my past elections matter; throwing my application in isn’t a genuine pursuit for me. Therefore, I honor my supporters and our community by opting out of the application process.

I want to thank the Harpster family for their commitment to serving the community. From former Pasco City council member Peter Harpster’s time he spent reading and preparing for the council meetings and workshops. Thank you for treating residents and staff with dignity. To his wife who handle his family time sacrifices with grace. As well as acknowledging his young boys in their sacrifices of time with their dad.

To the current city council members who will be appointing the vacant seat please consider this advice; diversity in opinions and experiences in a nonpartisan position is two values that will serve our city the best.

If you have a heart to serve all, support from your family, friends and work; then consider sharing your voice by applying for this vacant seat.

A hard decision was made by the former city council to secure these water rights and raise the cost to the level of fair market value. A new council member requested the city to take another look at the decision as 41 signatures of developers/builders submitted a letter.

The City of Pasco’s social media has been working hard at becoming both a more informative resource as well as transparent in governmental operations.

🌊📢 Pasco's Water Rights:
Did you know? Pasco uses about 19,000 acre-feet of water annually from the Columbia River for our needs. An acre-foot is enough to cover an acre of land a foot deep.

Pasco is growing fast! In 2022, we used approximately 16,000 acre-feet of water. To sustain our growth and ensure everyone has access to water, we’re updating our water rights management.

Our goal is to ensure a stable water supply for Pasco's future. Here's how:
-Water Rights Acquisition Fee Increase: We're adjusting the water rights fee from $1,725 to $4,150 per acre-foot, aligning with the market's 140.6% increase since 2014.
-Water Rights Transfer: Developers are required to transfer existing water rights to the city, helping us plan better for growth.

🏠 Impacts:
Residents: Good news! Your water bills stay the same. These changes are focused on new developments.
Developers: New fees apply, ensuring a fair share in supporting our water resources.

🌟 Why This Matters: Pasco is on the move, and so are we! Ensuring sufficient water rights is key to our community's health and success.

🤝 Your Role: Your understanding and engagement are vital! Stay informed and be a part of shaping a thriving Pasco. Learn more about water rights on our website and submit comments by 1/6, ahead of the next Pasco Council meeting on 1/8.

Court St/Rd 68 is the 4th highest priority intersection deemed dangerous and in need of mitigation due to the high frequency of t-bone accidents type according to the City of Pasco Transportation Master Plan.

The city has all funds needed for the other three intersections but under bid by $1 million for our neighborhood.

Six weeks ago I shared with the city during public comment that our 100 homes were held hostage to the city’s neglect. For every movement in and out of our neighborhood it left us at higher odds to be in a serious accident. Scott among many other neighbors already have had this unfortunate and costly experience. Later I met with city staff and I am incredibly thankful for their responsiveness.

Good job City of Pasco Community and Economic Development department 👏🏻👏🏻

The 2023 nonpartisan City of Pasco election cycle is over and will be certified with the state tomorrow. Elect Kim Lehrman signs have been taken down and those with yard signs are welcome to return them to my home. A sincere congratulatory statement to the future At-large council member has already been shared. Before we close out this election cycle let's take a moment to pause and reflect:

‘The amateur believes he must first overcome his fear; then he can do the work. The professional knows that fear can never be overcome. He knows there is no such thing as a fearless warrior or dread-free artist.’ -Steven Pressfield

I want to thank each voter who participated in our experiment of democracy. I want to thank every donor and volunteer who shared the Elect Kim Lehrman message of ‘Making Pasco Work for You’ with a vision of hope for a more inclusive city of Pasco. A vision that our children will not only have the opportunity but also be proud to live, work and play in Pasco. Thank you to the many Pasco residents who opened their doors to share their Pasco pride with us when our campaign visited their homes.

It's been a long six months of sacrifices as we campaigned together. We knew that this campaign would require great sacrifices. I want to thank my children for each of their loss of time with their mom, as well as donated time and talent to their mom’s campaign. I thank my husband for demonstrating to our four children what it looks like to equally invest in your partner's goals and believe in them. I want my supporters to know that you, diving in with both feet despite the fear to door-knock for our campaign, hosting a fundraiser or taking on a new ‘I never did this before’ role in my campaign is admired. You said ‘yes’ even when you felt fear. To each supporter who took a risk to talk about politics over a non-partisan campaign, I see your risk and I thank you. You took the risk and the time to educate other voters.

May our future Pasco candidates have the support of other Pasco residents who are deeply invested in working together and taking risks outside of their comfort zone in the advancement of a more perfect union. A union that is a representation for all of Pasco to be proud of. Many Pasco residents describe their Pasco Pride with stories. My Pasco Pride story is your role in our team.

‘If you are planning food for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant a tree; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.’ -Chinese Proverb

We championed for this campaign with a shared vision not because we are fearless. We educated others, not to tell but to inspire our future because WE are Pasco!

Thank you for your service to all US Veterans.

"Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be."
-Douglas MacArthur

I think of our responsibility to our family and friends who have served in the US Military on this Veterans’ Day. I think of those that we do not know but served for us and our future. As I reflect on this past election, I know I have made the veterans in my life proud. I know they would be proud of my family’s sacrifices as well as my supporters in how we ran this campaign with integrity and honor.

I know when the veterans that I know of signed up to serve they never thought it was to protect the right for a little farm girl who elbowed her way to be heard, seen and respected in the all-boys club to run for city council in a city that needs representation for all residents. It wasn’t for the teacher who saw some succeed and fights for the unseen to be seen. It wasn’t for the basketball coach or city planning commissioner who gets her ear bent to all not just those who live near her or looks like her. They didn’t know yet, but they served in faith that they will be making a difference for our future. I want to thank them for their belief that they were protecting and making our US a better place to live with our freedoms including our ability to elect representatives.

I want to thank another veteran, Peter Harpster for his past military service and congratulate him to his new public service role as our Pasco City Council member.

Let’s honor all veterans on this day of reflection and recognition by making a commitment to vote in every election, be engaged in local government and hold elected officials responsible to the highest level of honor and help them in their duty to represent all. Let’s work together to honor all veterans with more than a ‘thank you.’
