As the Port works to amass community support for its Industrial Symbiosis park, we’ve started conversations with WSU Tri-Cities about establishing a future internship program for students with a focus on agriscience or manufacturing technology. Our goal is for this project to benefit our whole region through high-paying jobs, education, waste reduction, and sustainable business practices.


Mientras el Puerto trabaja para conseguir el apoyo de la comunidad para su parque de simbiosis industrial, hemos iniciado conversaciones con la WSU – Tri-Cities para crear un futuro programa de prácticas para estudiantes centrado en las ciencias agrícolas o la tecnología de fabricación. Nuestro objetivo es que este proyecto beneficie a toda nuestra región mediante puestos de trabajo bien remunerados, formación, reducción de residuos y prácticas empresariales sostenibles.

Work on repairs to the Oregon Avenue Rail crossing began early Saturday morning. American Track and HDR Engineering were onsite all day for the first half of the repair. REMINDER: there is a traffic revision in place through Sunday as crews continue the work. The four-lane road is reduced to two lanes. Please drive safely as construction crews are working in the roadway.

Our staff brought their loved ones to work with them for a Port Peek! Capped off with a barbecue and some summer fun, our guests also enjoyed seeing the Tri-Cities Airport - PSC and visiting our longtime partners at Lampson International and Leggari Products. A great time was had by all!

A recent HDR Engineering rail assessment found an urgent need for repair at the Oregon Avenue crossing. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes on August 15-16 while construction is underway, with efforts made to avoid major impact to freight transport. Please use caution if you need to drive in this area and keep our workers safe!

Port staff played a major role in this summer’s Northwest Marine Terminal Association conference. Director of Properties Mayra Reyna helped plan and coordinate the event, while Project Manager Jaime Vera assisted with the driving tour, and Deputy Executive Director Stephen McFadden provided an update on Port projects.

Washington Economic Development Association Summer Conference panel discussions featured fabulous speakers, including local leaders. The Innovative Investments in Transportation and Infrastructure segment featured Port of Walla Walla Executive Director Pat Reay, and Michelle Holt, Executive Director of Benton-Franklin Council of Governments.

The Energizing Cutting-Edge Clean Economy Strategies talk featured two regional rock stars: WA State 8th District Representative Stephanie Barnard and Energy Northwest CEO Robert Schultz. Port of Benton sponsored the panel and Economic Development Director Audrey Burney introduced the panel.

Washington Economic Development Association’s networking reception showcased Columbia Gardens Artisan Village in Kennewick. Of the nearly 200 conference attendees, many were local leaders, including Port of Kennewick Commission Vice-President Skip Novakovich, Port of Benton Economic Development Director Audrey Burney, Port of Pasco Commission President Hans J. Engelke, and Tridec - Tri-City Development Council President Karl Dye.

The Port of Pasco is a proud sponsor of the Washington Economic Development Association Summer Conference being held in the Tri-Cities. Tuesday, three members of the Port team attended the City of Pasco/Burnham tour of the Process Water Reuse Facility. The facility converts food processing wastewater into renewable natural gas and irrigation water for 15 farm circles.


El Puerto de Pasco se enorgullece de patrocinar la Conferencia de Verano de la WEDA, que se celebra en Tri-Cities. El martes, tres miembros del puerto participaron en la visita organizada por la Ciudad de Pasco y Burnham a la planta de reutilización de aguas de proceso. La planta transforma las aguas residuales procedentes del procesamiento de alimentos en gas natural renovable y agua de riego para 15 explotaciones agrícolas.
