While battling the Ruby Ridge Fire there were some awesome people behind the scenes making sure the firefighters were fed. Franklin County Fire District 3 wants to give a HUGE shout out to the Burger King on Rd 68 in Pasco. On short notice they were able to provide us with 40 meals in about 30 minutes. Giving the crews on the fire a much needed meal. Thank you for helping us out on such short notice.

Ruby Ridge Fire - Update!

Fire is now under control and is contained. The fire has been turned over to the US Wildland Fire Service. Who will be monitoring and patrolling over the next few days. As of 9:30 pm the Juniper Dunes Evacuation is lifted.

Ruby Ridge Command Update

Crews are still working diligently to get the fire fully contained. While crews have made progress, the fire is still not fully contained and under control. Strike Teams from around the Tri-Cities are on scene along with the US Wildland Fire Service. Due to high fire danger and Red Flag Warnings the potential for spread remains high. Juniper Dunes is still under Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuation orders and is closed. Will update as crews make progress.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Highway 395 & Crestloch Road

At approximately 11:38 a.m. today, Franklin County Fire District #3 was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 395 and Crestloch Road for a reported two-vehicle T-bone collision.

Crews arrived to find two vehicles involved with multiple occupants. Firefighters and EMS personnel assessed and treated the patients. Two patients with what appeared to be minor injuries were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Incidents like this are a reminder to use extra caution when approaching intersections. Before turning or crossing traffic, take an extra moment to look both ways and make sure it is safe to proceed. A few extra seconds can make all the difference.

Today Franklin County Fire District 3 participated in the annual City of Pasco, 4th of July Parade. It was great to see everyone that turned out to come watch the parade. Have a fun and safe 4th of July.

🇺🇸 Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July 🇺🇸

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, Franklin County Fire District #3 would like to remind everyone that all fireworks are prohibited in unincorporated Franklin County — including the "Doughnut Hole" and Riverview areas.

With several large wildland fires that have already burned in our region and dry conditions across the county, it only takes one spark to start a fire that threatens homes, property, and lives.

This Fourth of July, we encourage everyone to leave the fireworks to the professionals and enjoy one of our area's outstanding public displays, including:

By attending a professional fireworks show, you're helping protect our community.

Let's work together to keep this Independence Day safe for everyone.

What's That Haze?

We've received several 911 calls today reporting smoke in neighborhoods and throughout the Tri-Cities area.

At this time, the smoke and haze are the result of a large wildland fire in Klickitat County. Current wind conditions are carrying smoke into our area, reducing visibility and affecting air quality.

What should you do?

If you see widespread haze or smell smoke but do not see flames or a specific source of smoke nearby, it is likely related to the wildfire.

If you discover new smoke, visible flames, or believe a fire is threatening people or property, please call 911 immediately.

Individuals who are sensitive to smoke, including those with asthma, COPD, heart conditions, older adults, and young children, should consider limiting prolonged outdoor activity until air quality improves.

As temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry out across our area, the fire danger rating has now increased from Moderate to High.

A High Fire Danger means fires can start easily and spread quickly under the right conditions. Extra caution should be used with any activity that could create sparks or heat.

Please help reduce the risk by: 🔥 Avoiding parking vehicles in dry grass
🔥 Using caution with equipment that may create sparks
🔥 Properly extinguishing campfires and outdoor burns
🔥 Checking local burn restrictions before burning
🔥 Securing trailer chains and towing equipment

We all play a role in preventing wildfires. Let’s work together to keep our community safe this season.
