IT’S BEEN A BUSY WEEK… ACTUALLY, IT’S BEEN A BUSY MONTH, COME TO THINK OF IT.
Our officers have been responding to serious assaults, gunfire, and dangerous situations while continuing the daily work of patrolling Pasco. Here are a few of the cases they’ve handled recently:
SHOTS FIRED AS SCHOOL LET OUT — 26-054696
Officers responded to reports of someone shooting at a group near the Alderwood Police Mini Station as students were leaving school. The investigation found that juveniles had gathered to fight when one began shooting as his friend was losing the fight. Several vehicles and an apartment were struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was hit. Officers quickly detained people involved, and coordinated work across several locations, including assistance from SCU, led to the capture of the shooting suspect.
ATTEMPTED MURDER WARRANT ARREST — 26-054915
Working with the U.S. Marshals, SCU and patrol officers helped apprehend a suspect wanted on a nationwide extraditable warrant for attempted murder, second-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. The warrant carried $1 million bail. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident as he left a location on North 20th Avenue. He was booked into jail on the warrant.
SERIOUS DOMESTIC ASSAULT, FLEEING SUSPECT LOCATED — 26-054722
Officers responded to West Yakima Street after a woman reported being assaulted. The investigation found that the suspect punched and strangled her before fleeing in a Jeep, driving through a neighbor’s fence. While officers were still investigating, the same Jeep was reported in a hit-and-run in Kennewick. Kennewick officers later located the suspect during another assault call. Officer Crawford responded and took custody of him, with assistance from Kennewick officers. He was booked for second-degree domestic violence assault.
MAN STRUCK IN THE HEAD WITH A LARGE ROCK — 26-053020
A man sitting outside the Union Gospel Mission was approached from behind and struck in the head with a large rock thrown by the suspect. The victim suffered a significant head wound and was transported by ambulance for treatment. The suspect ran from the area, but officers located him near 2nd Avenue and Shoshone Street and arrested him for second-degree assault.
OPEN 911 CALL LEADS TO ASSAULT AND DUI ARRESTS — 26-053057
An open 911 call alerted dispatch to an assault occurring inside a moving vehicle, with mention of a blade. Officers located the vehicle at 10th Avenue and Ainsworth Street. The investigation resulted in a woman being arrested for second-degree assault after cutting a man with a knife. The man was also arrested for DUI following an impaired-driving investigation.
K9 ALERT LEADS TO FENTANYL AND METHAMPHETAMINE RECOVERY — 26-054110
Following a traffic stop and an alert from K9 Hapo, Officer Peoples obtained and served a search warrant on the vehicle. Inside, she found numerous individually prepared foil portions of powdered fentanyl, along with methamphetamine. The packaging indicated the drugs were prepared for distribution. An additional charge of possession with intent to deliver is being referred.
STOLEN HELLCAT RECOVERED — 26-054783
An OnStar notification led officers to a Dodge Durango Hellcat stolen from a dealership in Salem, Oregon. Officer Vargas located the SUV on Camden Drive. Officers used a drone to help monitor the scene while swing shift and graveyard officers coordinated containment. Security footage helped establish who arrived driving the stolen vehicle, and that suspect was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle. The SUV was recovered, and Salem authorities were notified.
These incidents happened alongside the collisions, disturbances, traffic stops, warrant arrests, and other calls our officers handle throughout each shift. Several required officers from multiple shifts and assignments working together to cover the scenes and keep responding to calls across the city.
Serious calls. Good arrests. A lot of work by the people serving Pasco.
