Today, we celebrate all the fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who lead with strength, love, and dedication.

A special thank you to all the dads in the Pass Christian Fire Department who balance the call to serve our community while being role models and heroes at home. Your commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering support of your families and neighbors do not go unnoticed.

🚒🐊 PCFD Responds to Another “Routine” Call…

Just when we thought we’d seen it all, we were dispatched to assist with an unexpected swimmer enjoying a private pool party.

Meet “Gary” the alligator.

Apparently, Gary decided the Mississippi Gulf Coast heat was too much and found himself a nice backyard pool to cool off in. Unfortunately for Gary, he wasn’t on the guest list.

After a little persuasion and some teamwork, firefighters safely helped remove our scaly visitor and relocate him to a more appropriate address.

People often think the fire department only responds to fires, but in the last few weeks we’ve dealt with flooding, storm response, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, public service calls, and now alligator eviction services. We’re still waiting on someone to call us about aliens, but at this point we wouldn’t be surprised.

A reminder to residents: If you spot wildlife where it doesn’t belong, give the appropriate authorities a call and keep a safe distance. Gary may have looked relaxed, but he wasn’t interested in making new friends.

⚠️ FLOODING & HIGH TIDE ALERT ⚠️

Drivers, please use extreme caution this afternoon. High tide is expected around 2:00 PM, and ditches and drainage canals throughout the city are already filling with water. If conditions continue, flooding is expected to worsen leading up to and after high tide as water backs up and drainage slows.

🚧 Areas along the city's drainage canals are expected to see the greatest impacts, especially Davis Avenue, North Clark Avenue, Woodman Avenue, St. Paul Avenue, and surrounding roadways.

Please avoid driving through flooded streets. Even shallow water can hide hazards or stall a vehicle. Turn around, don’t drown.

If you don’t have to travel, consider delaying your trip until conditions improve. Continue to monitor local updates and use caution throughout the afternoon and evening.

City crews are double-checking as many of our ditches and storm drains as possible.

🌧️ **HELP KEEP PASS CHRISTIAN DRAINING PROPERLY** 🌧️

With heavy rainfall possible this week, we are asking residents to help keep our drainage system working as intended.

🚫 **Please do NOT blow, rake, or place leaves, grass clippings, pine straw, or other yard debris into the streets, drainage ditches, culverts, or storm drains.**

When debris washes into ditches and storm drains, it can clog culverts and drainage grates, causing water to back up and flood areas that normally would not have flooding problems.

✅ Here's how you can help:
• Keep roadside ditches and drainage swales on your property clear of debris.
• Properly bag and dispose of leaves and grass clippings.
• Avoid piling yard debris near ditches, culverts, or storm drains where it can wash away during heavy rain.
• If it is safe to do so, remove litter and debris around nearby drainage inlets.
• Report blocked ditches, culverts, or storm drains to the City.

Every clear ditch and storm drain makes a difference. A few minutes of prevention today can help reduce flooding tomorrow.
