October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year we want our community to join the fire service in showing support for those who are fighting, those who have fought, and those we remember. 💗

🚨 DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚨

The Pass Christian Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the nation for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, running August 19 through September 7, 2026.

🍻➡️🚕 As we head into the Labor Day holiday weekend, we’re reminding everyone: If you drink, don’t drive. Make a plan before you go out—designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, call a friend, or find another safe way home. That sober ride home will cost you a lot less than a DUI.

The numbers are a sobering reminder of the dangers of impaired driving:

📊 2024 Labor Day Holiday:
• 505 people were killed in traffic crashes nationwide.
• 170 deaths (34%) involved at least one alcohol-impaired driver with a BAC of .08 or higher.
• Among drivers ages 18–34 who were killed, 40% were alcohol-impaired with a BAC of .08 or higher.

📊 2023 Labor Day Holiday:
• 505 drivers were killed in traffic crashes.
• 100 (33%) of those drivers were alcohol-impaired with a BAC of .08 or higher.
• 77 of the 100 impaired drivers had a BAC of .15 or higher—nearly twice the legal limit.

These aren't just statistics—they represent lives lost and families changed forever.

👮‍♂️ During this campaign, PCPD officers will be working to keep our roads safe and will be watching for impaired drivers.

Drive sober. Buckle up. Get home safely.
Don’t make the decision to drive impaired.

Today marks the first day of school for many of our students, and we're excited to welcome them back for a safe and successful school year!

As you travel through Pass Christian today, please remember to:
🛑 Stop for school buses when required by law.
🚶 Be alert for children walking to and from school.
🦺 Slow down in school zones and obey the posted speed limits.
✋ Watch for and follow the directions of crossing guards—they're working hard to keep our students safe.

A few extra minutes of patience can make all the difference. Let's all do our part to ensure every student arrives at school and returns home safely.
