FAMILY CENTER SUPPORTS SPRING DISTRICT EVENTS AND FOOD DRIVES

This spring, the Patchogue-Medford Family Center partnered with community organizations to restock the District food pantry shelves. This including partnering with Long Island Harvest and the US Postal Service Stamp Out Hunger initiative. In celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary, a 250-item food drive took place at each school, and the Patchogue-Medford Library hosted a “sister” food and essentials drive, which aimed to have patron donations match each school’s 250-item goal.

The Family Center also supported District events this spring, tabling at the Using Our Voices Mental Health Run and presenting at a Canaan Elementary School PTA meeting.

Students built skills that promote success in and out of the classroom as they engaged in goal setting, reflection, progress monitoring, and meaningful conversations. As the program continues to cultivate a strong foundation, South Ocean looks forward to its growth and the positive impact it will have on students for years to come.
