The Paterson Police Department worked hard to help ensure the Dominican Day Parade was a tremendous success! Last night our officers kept the city safe, preventing a shooting by taking an individual armed with a gun off of a crowded street, shutting down dozens of unlawful gatherings, inspecting businesses and towing 144 illegally parked cars, making sure our presence was felt on the streets of Paterson. And while doing all of that, saving a child from a burning building! Kudos to Det. Mark Rodriguez, injured in the line of duty, for your heroism and selflessness making sure that child got out unharmed.

In August of 2024, Detective Brian Culmone located a stolen vehicle within the city of Paterson recovering a semi-automatic handgun and an AR-style rifle. Also in August, Det. Culmone assisted in the apprehension of several individuals wanted for serious crimes in the city. For his outstanding police work, Det. Culmone has been named the August Officer of the Month.
