Today, the Paterson Fire Department honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the freedoms secured by those who gave everything.

**Mutual Aid Rescue Assignment**

Shortly after shift change, Tour 2 Rescue 1 (operated by squad 6), Rescue 2, EMS 6, and Car 6 were requested to Route 80 West in Elmwood Park for an MVA with entrapment.

A fully loaded tractor trailer rolled over onto a passenger vehicle with heavy entrapment. Paterson Rescue units operated hand in hand with and other various mutual aid companies to extricate the trapped occupant. A heavy duty tow crane was requested to lift the trailer while crews utilized teamwork to crib and stabilize the lift with box cribbing and air bags. Once enough space was made, crews began cutting and spreading to tunnel to the driver.

Excellent teamwork by all units and agencies involved to ensure a positive outcome for the patient.

The Paterson Police Department is aware of the “TikTok Door Kick Challenge,” where individuals kick or strike residential doors before running away and recording reactions.

While some may view this as a prank, these actions can cause property damage, create fear among residents, and may lead to criminal charges.

PPD is actively monitoring reports related to this activity and increasing patrols in affected neighborhoods. Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the serious consequences of participating in dangerous social media trends.

Residents should report suspicious or unlawful activity immediately and avoid confronting individuals directly. If possible, safely provide home security footage or descriptions to responding officers.

We will continue working with the community to keep our neighborhoods safe and respectful for everyone.
