It was a busy week for some members of this office! Part of being in this career field, is keeping up with continuing education and training. One of many is CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) training. This is a program designed to help law enforcement handle subjects having a mental health crisis safely, hoping to reduce arrests and injuries. Officers went through a 40-hour curriculum where they were further educated on mental health, de-escalation skills, collaboration with the community, and additional resources that are available to them. In order for them to complete this course, they also had to participate in real-life scenarios where actors portrayed different types of crises and the officers had to help them through it.

To finish up the week, Sheriff Landers and Chief Miller went to Vantage Career Center to support one of our newest hires, part-time dispatcher Logan Winke, at the CAP Signing Day Ceremony. Logan is graduating from the Criminal Justice Program and signed his letter of intent to come serve with us!

SCAM ALERT

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about an increase in bail bond scams targeting community members.
Scammers are posing as law enforcement officers from our office, claiming that a loved one has been arrested and needs immediate payment for release. They often demand payment through gift cards, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers, while pressuring victims to act quickly.
⚠️ Common Signs of a Bail Bond Scam
• Urgent calls claiming a family member is in jail and needs bail immediately or requires payment to be released on an ankle monitor• Requests for payment through Cash App, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers• Pressure to keep the situation secret or stay on the phone• Threats of arrest or legal action if payment is not made immediately• Caller ID appearing to show a law enforcement agency or courthouse number
✅ How to Protect Yourself• Slow down — scammers rely on panic and urgency• Verify the information by contacting the jail or law enforcement agency directly using official phone numbers• Contact your family member or other relatives before sending money• Never send money using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment apps to unknown individuals• Ask questions — legitimate agencies will provide clear information
❗ Important ReminderThe Paulding County Sheriff's Office will NEVER contact you requesting payment or bond money for an inmate. Law enforcement agencies do not accept bail payments through gift cards, Cash App, Zelle, cryptocurrency, or similar payment methods.
If you receive one of these calls:• Hang up immediately• Do not send money• Report the incident to local law enforcement
Please share this information to help protect friends, family, and neighbors from becoming victims of fraud.

Keep up the good work Chief Deputy Caleb Miller!!

Off the clock… he’s a dad in the stands.
On the clock… he’s helping keep Paulding County safe.

This is Caleb D. Miller.

Chief Deputy at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and part of this year’s Leadership in Action cohort.

Caleb began his law enforcement career in 2011 and has worked through dispatch, corrections, and road patrol… earning his way to Chief Deputy.

Off the clock, you’ll find him at a football field, basketball court, or ballpark supporting his kids. When the family gets some free time, it’s camping, fishing, or out on the lake.

(And fun fact… twins run in the family.)

This is what Leadership in Action is all about… people who are already showing up for their community and continuing to grow.

As part of this year’s service project, Caleb served as Chair of the Pistols & Purses Committee. Imagine that… a sheriff’s deputy choosing to host a pistol raffle. Who could’ve guessed? 😁

That effort is part of a larger goal… Caleb’s LIA class is working to help bring a wheelchair-accessible van to the Paulding County Senior Center.
