Did you know people receiving services from Ohio's county boards of developmental disabilities can request 3D-printed assistive devices at no cost?
Through the DODD Tech Hub Expansion Grant and Ohio's Technology First Initiative, Regional Tech Hubs across the state are making custom assistive technology more accessible than ever.
The Wood County Board of DD has published a catalog of 32 devices that can be 3D-printed and shipped for free, including:
✂️ Adapted scissors and feeding cuffs for independent daily living
🔑 Key turners, faucet extenders, and light switch extenders for home accessibility
💊 Pill poppers and daily medication reminders
🖊️ Palm pens and book holders for reading and writing
👞 No-tie shoe lace systems and zipper pulls for dressing independence
🪥 Nail clipper mounts, toothpaste squeezers, and more
Many of these designs come from open-source assistive technology communities like Makers Making Change.
To request an item, individuals (or their providers, families, and service coordinators) can fill out a simple web form through Kan Du Group, a DODD-certified nonprofit in Findlay, OH.
