📚 Back to School! 🚔

Our four School Resource Officers headed back to school with all the kids last week, and we’re happy to have everyone back on campus!

We want to thank our local schools, teachers, administrators, and staff for everything they do for our kids.
We appreciate our relationships with school faculty and students, and the opportunity our SROs have to be part of their everyday lives.

Our SROs are there to help keep our schools safe, but they’re also there to be a familiar face, build confidence and positive relationships, and be someone students and staff can count on.

As everyone gets back into the routine, remember to slow down in school zones, watch for kids and buses, and give yourself a little extra time in the morning and afternoon.

We’re looking forward to a safe and great school year! 🍎📚

💙🦁🚔 A huge thank you to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, the Moore Police Department, the Oklahoma D.A.R.E. Officers Association, and Cleveland County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Gibbons for the wonderful invitation and hospitality. We truly appreciate the opportunity to have the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office and DAREN the D.A.R.E. Lion participate in this year’s National Night Out!

A special thank you to Garvin County Sheriff Jim Mullett for his unwavering support of the D.A.R.E. program and for allowing us to represent Garvin County at such an incredible event. The Garvin County Sheriff’s Office was honored to participate in this year’s Abbott House Boots & BBQ fundraiser, catered by Punkins, an evening dedicated to supporting and advocating for the children of our community.

The keynote speaker this year was Sheriff Jim Mullett. He delivered a powerful and deeply moving message about what happens “behind the badge.” His remarks highlighted the advocacy, compassion, and commitment that often go unseen as law enforcement, child advocates, and community partners work together to protect children and seek justice for victims. It was a speech that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

A special highlight of the evening was Garvin County Sergeant Michelle Harryman, who was honored as the Advocate of the Year!
In presenting the award, it was said:
“Her commitment goes far beyond the job description. On one occasion, she came in on her day off to meet with a child she had built a trusting relationship with. Through her compassion and consistency, she helped restore that child's trust in law enforcement and, perhaps for the first time in her life, made her feel that someone truly cared.
Her passion for protecting children and her unwavering advocacy embody the mission of Abbott House, making her exceptionally deserving of this honor.”
This recognition is a testament to her unwavering dedication to serving the children of this community, supporting the victims, and advocating for those who need a voice the most.

We are grateful for our continued partnership with Abbott House and for everyone who works tirelessly to provide hope, healing, and advocacy for children. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need us most.

The generosity shown throughout the evening was absolutely amazing and truly inspiring. From the many sponsors and donors to the incredible silent auction and raffle items, every contribution reflected this community’s commitment to Abbott House's mission.

Please join the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office in congratulating our newest graduate of the 2026 Oklahoma D.A.R.E. Officers Association Training Academy!

Sergeant Athena Miles successfully completed the two-week training program held in Oklahoma City and is now a certified D.A.R.E. instructor. Sergeant Miles serves as the School Resource Officer (SRO) for Maysville Public Schools, where she will be teaching the D.A.R.E. program and making a positive impact on the students and community.

Congratulations, Sergeant Miles, on this outstanding achievement! We are proud of your dedication and commitment to the youth of Garvin County.
