Congratulations to Dr. Walter C. Quint on this recognition of a lifetime of leadership. A legacy of preservation. A well-deserved honor. ⭐

The Paulsboro Historic Preservation Commission proudly congratulates Dr. Walter Quint on being recognized with an Honorable Mention for the Sarah P. Fiske Legacy & Leadership Award by Preservation New Jersey — a lifetime achievement award and statewide honor celebrating individuals who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to historic preservation.

For more than FIVE DECADES, Dr. Quint has served as an educator, public servant, historian, mentor, and preservation leader. His influence has touched classrooms, communities, historic sites, and civic institutions across New Jersey — with Paulsboro receiving his most generous attention — and his work has helped shape both people and places in profound and lasting ways.

🏛️ A Legacy of Leadership & Service

Dr. Quint’s impact spans generations:

📚Dedicated public educator and school leader, serving as Superintendent and Interim Superintendent in Paulsboro and Pennsauken, and a mentor to countless educators across the state
Champion of community institutions, including leadership for major educational and public projects and the Gill Memorial Library expansion

📜Preservation advocate and historian, with leadership roles that have included:

--- Chair – Fort Billingsport Restoration Committee
--- President – Tinicum Rear Range Lighthouse Society
--- Chair – Historic Paul House Restoration Project
--- Founding leader – Paulsboro Historic Preservation Commission
--- Civic leader and volunteer, serving organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, education foundations, and numerous community initiatives

🌿 Preservation with Purpose

Dr. Quint has helped shape a preservation movement that is about more than saving buildings. He has shown that preservation is about education, public engagement, and cultural identity — a way to connect the past to the future.

His vision for the Paul House Museum reflects this approach:

--- Interpretive exhibits that tell Paulsboro’s Revolutionary and industrial history
--- Public programming to make history accessible to all
--- A native garden and outdoor learning space linking history to environmental stewardship

🌎 Statewide Impact, Local Heart

Through his leadership, Paulsboro is now:

--- Preparing to welcome heritage tourism
--- Positioned to participate in America’s 250th anniversary
--- Strengthening community pride through history and education
--- Building a preservation legacy that will endure for generations

Dr. Quint leads with humility, purpose, and heart. He does not seek recognition — he builds it for others. His service stands as a powerful reminder of how one person’s dedication can shape a community for the better.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Walter C. Quint on this well-earned statewide recognition! 👏

During March 1987, a remarkable group of 5th grade students under the leadership of their teachers, James Crawford and Christine Smith published "The Journal of Fort Billings." As we prepare to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the First Federal Land Purchase on July 5, 2026, it would be wonderful if we could include the students and teachers in the celebration. Having said this, if you know any of the following people, please contact me or ask them to contact me via Messenger. James Amato, Tynaya Espy, Amaris Gaines, Candido Muriel, Anastasia Venable, Tanya Cutler, Michael Frisby, Alvia Lee, T'Mara Pollard, Kelli Blue, James Crawford and Christine Smith. Many Thanks
