Hollwedel Memorial Library

Hollwedel Memorial Library The mission of the Hollwedel Memorial Library is to help community residents be lifelong learners. Today the Library houses over 17,000 items to be borrowed.

The Pavilion Public Library was started as a Reading Room of the Pavilion Historical Society in 1979. Members of the community donated boooks to start a collection. The Library was chartered by the State of New York in June 1982, to provide library services to the residents of the town. Additional contracts were formed to serve the residents of Bethany and Covington. The Library had been housed in

the Sprague-Searles home, owned by the Pavilion Methodist Church. The Town of Pavilion purchased the Easton property in 1990, to maintain our expanded collection and to provide for the expansion of services. Trustees and town officials broke ground for a new facility in June 1993. Many groups, including the Friends of the Library, businesses, as well as individuals, worked diligently to make our dream a reality. Our new Library was dedicated in November 1995. The Library Board of Trustees has made a commitment to provide a center for learning for the entire community

Continuing our “Hey did you know this is at your library?!?” Series, did you know we get the Batavia Daily News? 🗞️ But unlike at other libraries nobody seems to be coming in to have a coffee or tea and sit a spell. We think it’s important to support local news sources but our subscription renewal is coming up… Should we continue to provide this for the community? (BTW, we mostly recycle these so if there’s an edition you’d like us to save for you, just let us know!)
