We are pleased to share that our Mental Health Court has received certification from the State Court Administrative Office. This certificate recognizes that our program meets the requirements for Mental Health Court certification under MCL 600.1091(3).

⚖️ Requirements:

Licensed attorney in Michigan, in good standing with the State Bar

Minimum 4 years of legal experience (domestic relations/family law preferred) OR 2 years as a referee or magistrate

Strong knowledge of Michigan Court Rules, statutes, and case law

Excellent communication, legal analysis, and judicial demeanor

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct hearings, conferences, and reviews in family-related matters

Earlier this month, we celebrated Drug Treatment Court graduations, recognizing the resilience, hard work, and transformation of participants. The ceremony honored individuals who completed rigorous requirements on their journey to recovery. These graduations highlight not only the determination of our graduates, but also the dedication of our Specialty Court team and the court’s commitment to rehabilitation and public safety.

We had the privilege of hosting a Contempt of Court Training in August with Judge Christopher P. Yates from the Michigan Court of Appeals! Judges from Van Buren, Kalamazoo, and other counties joined, along with members of the Public Defender’s and Prosecutor’s offices, for this valuable learning opportunity.
